Welcome To Kickin' Butts!
Congratulations for taking what may be your first steps in a journey to freedom from smoking!

Our mission here is education, the selfless care for and support of those who are considering smoking cessation, those who want to quit, those who are actively involved in a quit and need support, and those who have quit successfully and are having difficulty maintaining their freedom from this addiction.
We welcome all who have not yet quit, who are in the process and those who have quit successfully and would like to share tips and techniques. There is no wrong way to quit; we focus on the destination, and the journey itself becomes secondary.
We're addicts here by definition, and will NOT tolerate condescension, demeaning, belittlement or personal attack. True to mission, we have to stay united against a common enemy and focus on supporting each other; think family, but without the sibling rivalry!

The Truth About "Light" Cigarettes
I'm sure a lot of us smoked or continue to smoke "lights", thinking that they're not as unhealthy as regular filters. Consider this:

ROLL CALL, 8/23
I trust all are having a peaceful weekend, that we're all finding it easier - if only just a little - to maintain, and that those of us touched by Fay have been kissed by her, and not slapped around.
As usual, I'll invite all 107 of you to share with me and each other your status... successes, new and enduring challenges, and hopes for a tomorrow free from the addiction that brought us all here.
***REMEMBER!***
Eons wil be profling Kickin' Butts on its home page on Monday 8/25, so let's all be the Ambassadors we are, and welcome the world to our family. I expect (and hope for) an influx of new members; my hope will be that anyone who joins us will be active, and will bring with them fresh perspectives and ideas. Let's help KB grow and evolve.
Hugs to all,
S.

I don't think I can do this,
I want to, I need to, I've done it before.but right here, right now I don't feel like I can do it again. I have a plan, I've picked the date, but the closer it gets, the more fear that sets in. Well here I go. Monday 8-25-08 I go on the nicoderm patch & mints. NO MORE CIGARETTES. WISH ME LLUCK.
Hey Friends
I just wanted to let you know that I won't be around much for the next couple days. I'll try to check in whenever I can, but hopefully, if there's an emergency, Scot and Chrissy and so many of our other members can help.
If it's a real emergency, don't forget to title your subject: 911!!
That way whoever sees that, knows to get there fast and try to help.

Six month and counting
Well I have reached my six month of not smoking even a twig. I am on vacation and I don't know if it is beacause of it or just coincidence, but I have been in a bad mood and on edge all this time. Hopefully it will go back to normal when I go back to work.
I'm a little surprised...
...that we didn't see the traffic I expected after we were featured on Eons' hme page. I am pleased, thought, that we have such a tight, close-knit family, and that we've passed the century mark in membership.
We're doing exactly what I'd envisioned our mission to be, and have made a big difference in more than just a few lives. And that, dear friends, is what it's all about.
Thanks to all of you for being a part of the mission, the ride, and our success.

Outcome of Rob's Surgery . . .
Well, I hate to give you this news, because it breaks my heart, but the outcome was not as we had prayed for.
I knew as soon as I saw the doctor's face, before he said a word that the news was not good. He had to remove all of Rob's pancreas, his spleen and part of his stomach. They also removed several lymph nodes. The reason for the total removal of the pancreas was because once he got in there the tumor took over most of the pancreas, and where there was no tumor - there were other nodules. He will have to be on insulin the rest of his life because of this - which is the least of our worries. They did a frozen section biopsy - and it was positive for cancer. They are sending the lymph nodes for testing and won't know for a few days as to what stage the cancer is - and they won't decide until then what protocol of therapy he will receive. But I did ask how long he estimated my brother has had this, and he said because of the size - possibly two or three years - which is not good.
We are so distraught, and I am so fearful of my mother's fragile condition right now. We have not come out and told her yet about the cancer, but she is very suspicious. We are awaiting the lymph node results, and then we will have to tell her at that time. I am just not sure she can handle this. Now we are fearful of losing both my brother and my mother - after just losing my dad in November.
Please continue your prayers - that by some miracle this cancer is in it's early stages, but the doctor did not appear to be optimistic in that direction.
Also, please pray that if this is going to be the case, that my brother will not suffer, and that my mother will be able to deal with this.
As soon as we get those results, I'll get back to you.
Thank you once again for your prayers and comfort.
Luv you,
Carol

Off the Wagon
Hi all. Bet you think I fell off the face of the earth. Nope, but I did fall off the wagon. A few weeks ago I attempted to quit smoking. It went well for about a week and then I got all stressed out and started in again. One of you mentioned praying to God for support in your blog.... I concur because I believe the only way I will be successful is with God's grace. It seems everyone around me is dealing with some form of cancer and you'd think that would be enough incentive for me. Alas, I must commit and keep trying.
day 3
That's right, day 3 without lighting up. I'm gonna do it this time!!
