I just moved to Ft. Lauderdale a few years ago, and I absolutely love going to The Keys. I go any chance I get. I think it would be great to get to know some people down there. Is anyone else still hanging around here?

Marathon

Been going to Marathon for many years and love it. Used to go to KW and still go there once or twice while in Marathon. Should have bought that place in the 80's that we looked at.
Will be there again for 2 weeks over the 4th of July. And hope I get there in time to eat some stone crabs.

Did anyone see the ice crystal ring around the sun May 1 and May2? It was awesome.

SCHOONER WARF BAR

I just saw in the News Paper that they are tearing down the SCHOONER WARF.........This is terrible. It is one of the first historic bars in Key West. We need to do something.

I'm heading out in the a.m. for Key Largo tomorrow, returning on 10/28. Plan on trying to catch some of the Fantasy Fest activities. Will post some pictures when I return.

KEY WEST GOSSIP

I was on the Beach on the Atlantic Side by SouthernMost Point and I saw a White Crain, it must have been lost because it was running around the pool at SouthernMost Hotel. Everyone was trying to feed it and give it water. BAD IDEA!!!!!
Late November the Turkey Hawks arrived. They were circling Key West like we were prey. Most of them took a free ride on the jet stream toward Cuba but a few decided to stay. Just before the last cold snap. there was this tourist sitting on the beach in the sun at southernMost on the Beach ( beautiful day I might add). She ordered some food from the SouthernMost Café on the Beach. The Turkey Hawks started circling and dive bombing her and stole her food. She was scared to death. MORAL OF THE STORY IS DON'T FEED WILD BIRDS OR ALLIGATORS. If you do, they are no longer afraid and will attack you for food. .....AND GET THIS.... they passed a new law here. Chickens are protected by law....you cant harm them.....NOW IT IS AGAINST CITY CODE TO FEED THE CHICKENS. The Chicken Lady is freeking out!
Her husbond died and she had to close the Chicken Store. Now she has over one hundred Chickens, Roosters and baby peeps, teenagers too, at her house near the end of Fogarty St. close to the Staples bike path. Chicken Lady feeds them at night so she won't get caught. The neighbors are CRYING because the Roosters CROW ALL NIGHT LONG. I'm glad I don't live over there. What a life.
