~ playful puppydogs ~

I was asked how to help a rescued Sheltie want to become playful ~
My husband and I are blessed with a pair of 5~year~old Sheltie sisters.....
we got our *Emily* ~ a gorgeous mahogany sable, from a breeder when she was a baby and we rescued our *Sadie* ~ a beautiful deep tricolor, only a year ago
It absolutely broke our hearts when we realized that precious little Sadie had absolutely nooo clue what ordinary toys are.....
or even h-o-w to play!

Our darling Emily was entirely bewildered by her new little sister not wanting to be silly with her and she continually dropped every one of her toys in front of Sadie and then she *danced* around her, enticing her to play.....
it was really cute, but really very sad as well.
Well, between Emily's relentless insistence of being goofy with her, and my encouraging her to chase me while I was continually squeaking a doggie toy.....
Sadie finally realized what having FUN is all about!
~ David and I were honestly near tears when that moment happened and our sweet Emily was just plain overjoyed.....
and they have been little lunatics together ever since!
~ BERRY SWEET ~
~ One of the many things that
I dearly love about summers in my beautiful
New England is the abundance of sweet, wild berries growing all around me!
strawberries ~ June
blueberries ~ July
blackberries ~ August
and my pair of Sheltie sisters, Sadie + Emily sooo absolutely love, l-o-v-e munching on them too!
~ Whenever they hear us say the word, *berry* they both immediately sit .....
it's really funny, and so cute!

( SHADES OF RED )
One of the amazing things about beautiful Irish Setters is of course their absolutely gorgeous coloring! As a puppy, my beloved *Erin* was a very soft auburn and she grew to become a deep, rich chestnut.
And her parents were entirely different shades of red ~
her mom was a very pretty cinnamon~rust and her dad was an incredibly dark shade of burgundy... nearly Merlot (:
~ Ms. Martha ~
Martha Stewart might be
stalking your puppydog if.....
There is potpourri hanging from their collar.
Their nails have been clipped with pinking shears.
A seasonally appropriate grapevine wreath adorns the front of their crate.
Their toys are all stored in earthenware crocks.
That telltale lemon slice in their new silver water bowl.
You find whole wheat dog treats stamped out with copper cookie cutters and decorated with royal icing.
They go outside naked and come in wearing a lovely thyme~colored virgin wool hand knitted sweater with matching booties.( GROOMING 'FIND' )
Gee, the things you find when you're looking for something else!~ I needed to replace an ordinary detangling comb that I use for myself and while selecting one, I discovered a style that is entirely perfect for grooming my *Sheltiegirls*

It is a long-handled, slightly curved, unbreakable thick plastic comb with unusually long ( 1 + 5 / 8" ) rounded teeth!
{ and it only co$t a mere few dollars besides! }
