Golf and Travel
This group is open to anyone who loves golf or just likes golf...and especially to those who suffer from a love/hate golf relationship.
Originally for golfers; the group is spreading its umbrella to include those (the new manager being one) who have never played the game; but are addicted to it, nonetheless.
Open up and share some golf stories with us.

Welcome to Golf and Travel
Welcome to Golf and Travel!!
I have taken over the management of the Golf and Travel Group here at eons.
I don't play golf which makes the choice of me as manager perhaps a bit off; but I am an avid golf fan. I watch PGA Tour, European Tour, Championship Tour and LPGA Tour events most weeks. I have seen very major PGA Tour event since the early 90s. The first PGA Pros that I loved to watch were Davis Love III and Fred Couples. Now, like many others, I watch Tiger, Phil, VJ, Ernie and many others in awe of their talent.
Working with me are badhobbit and mgdion3, both avid golfers who play several rounds each week. I invited them to bring the understanding of the player to the group. Both have posted new threads that I think golfers and fans alike will enjoy.
The three of us will be working to bring a well-rounded view of golf to the group.
We welcome any and all suggestions of how you would like to see the group grow and move.
I'll be reading all the current posts and trimming those that no longer apply and contacting many of you who have contributed in the past hoping to bring you back to the group on a regular basis. (I have started with the oldest and am working forward. I have completed January 2007; I've got a ways to go...There are many threads worth another look and as I work through them, I will be bumping some for everyone to read again. Please feel free to go into the archives and bump threads you like back to the top...)
And we welcome anyone who would like to join the group and help us make it a popular eons destination.

Love and Beem Qualify for Open
Paul Goydos won the qualifying tournament and Davis Love and Rich Beem both qualified for The Open this past Monday at the Dearborn Country Club in Michigan. Steve Elkington failed to qualify by bogeying the final two holes.
The qualifying tournament at the TPC of Michigan was won by 25 year old Jeff Overton.
John Rollins, Tim Petrovic, Matt Kuchar, Alex Cejka and Scott McCarron picked up the other five spots at the TPC, while Doug Labelle II joined Goydos and Letzig as automatic qualifiers, and Kevin Stadler and Craig Barlow were the others to advance out of the playoff.

The Man From Kentucky Wins Again
Congratulations to Kenny Perry on winning the Buick Open this past week.
Can you say Ryder Cup???

When Will John Daly Hit Rock Bottom?
I have always loved John Daly and am very sad at what is happening to him and his addictions. (I know, they have always been there floating on the surface.)
This week at the Buick Open, during the Pro-Am he teed off one hole using a full beer can - now that's real classy, don't you think?
He shot a 146 or 2 over par for the first two days (not a bad score in general) - a full 16 shots back from the leader and missed the cut by 5 shots.
If you want to see the tee off with the beer can, I have put it in the first reply. (It was not worthy of the front page...)
So sad, isn't a handler explaining to him what a jackass move that was???
See reply>

After 4 Years, Cink Wins
Finally...Stewart Cink won the Travelers' Championship this past week.
Back in 1996 while watching a very young Tiger Woods play, Cink made the comment, "As I watched him play, I saw my future."
Congratulations on a well-deserved win!!

Hello Everyone!
I am friends with many in the group and your Manager recently joined the Reagan Round Up and offered to let me post a link in her groups. Thank you Nanamarcie!
I manage a group call Reagan Round Up. The purpose of the group here on Eons is to draw awareness to our Non-Profit Group that is helping with our deployed soldiers.
The Reagan Round Up is in need of more members to adopt a deployed Soldier, to send a card, letter, care package, to let them know that they are thought of and appreciated for all they are giving up to protect us.
Put your feeling about the war aside, these men and women didn't have a choice to decide to go, it what was they chose to do. Let's support them and let them know that we care, we want them home safely, and take a few minutes from our busy days to care about someone else.
Come and join us, and make a difference...

Tiger Out For the Season
Noon reports state that Tiger will have another knee surgery and will be out for the remainder of the 2008 season.
He had a new tear in his knee that happened a couple weeks before the US Open and the stress from the Open made it worse.
Best wishes to him for a full recovery!!
Take your time this time getting well and strong!!

Play Off
I am really hoping Mediate can pull it off but it won't be easy. What a fairy tale it would be for him though. Let's all send him some positive thoughts and wish him well.

US Open - Day 4
All I can say is exactly what Rocco Mediate said when Tiger birdied the 72nd hole to force the playoff tomorrow:
"Unbelievable"
An 18 hole playoff starts at 9am PDT - noon EDT.
The US Open is always a thrill and this year is no different.
