YOU DON'T NEED A STOVE TO GET BY
Buy a countertop double burner, you can find these at Wal-mart, Joeyz Shopping Spree etc., they are just 2 coils like an electric stove has and the unit sits on top of your countertop and plugs in, not very expensive either. So...if your stove gives out on you and you are short on funds, this is a viable alternative. If you have a toaster oven, you can use that for cooking burgers etc. and just doing veggies on the double burner.
SAVING TIP OF THE DAY-SAVE MONEY ON DISH SOAP
"Things You’ll Need:
* Spouted glass bottle
* Dish soap
Step1
Make a quick visit to the kitchen section of your local home goods store. Keep your eyes open for the glassware section. You will be looking for a small glass bottle with a spouted top--the intended purpose of the bottle is for use as a vinaigrette or olive oil dispenser. The style and size of the bottle will vary greatly--you can choose whatever appeals to you. Find a bottle that will fit nicely on the back of your kitchen sink.
Step2
Give the bottle a quick scrub or just throw it in the dishwasher depending on the care instructions included with your bottle. Take the time to dry it well--this bottle will be kept in plain sight in your kitchen so you'll want it sparkling clean.
Step3
Fill the bottle with dish soap and tightly replace the cap. Test the flow of the bottle by tipping it over gently toward the sink and allowing a few drops to escape from the spout. This will give you an idea of how much comes out and how quickly it leaves the spout.
Step4
Keep the bottle where it is easily accessible at your kitchen sink so you can use it every time you wash dishes. You will be amazed at how much longer your dish soap lasts when you use this method. You will use far less soap each time you wash dishes and thus save money on the grocery portion of your budget."

Downsized car
One of the ways my husband and I have done to help us get by better,is to buy a compact car that gets 34miles to the gallon,we did drive a big gas guzzler,(but it STILL hurts to go buy gas!)I know evryone in America can relate! we started a little community garden on our street and it's been great,we enjoy the fresh veggies as well as mingling with our neighbors(ther are always some who won't or can't do as much of the work,but thats O.K.)....When we are out buying groceries or whatever,we eat at McDonalds we order a Big+Tasty burger and 2 small drinks(burgers are just a buck a piece),instead of going to some of the more expensive places to eat.....so that's just a few of the cuts in our expenses,I'll be back with more...lol,Judy
Need input on a reliable inexpensive used car
My bf has a car which he just poured a ton of money into for repairs, he owns a Grand Am, so...this weekend we are off on a car search and I was just wondering what you would recommend for an inexpensive but reliable used vehicle. We are thinking towards Toyota, but they can even be a bit pricey in the used car market now that it is costing the truckers more money in gas to get them to the dealerships. Is there a car out there comparable to Toyota which is reliable, does not need much servicing?
Grow Your Own!
I started a tiny garden this year. I have yellow squash, lotsa herbs, tomatoes, cucumbers. The basil alone is going to save me about 30 bucks this summer.
I don't know why people complain about the work! A raised bed, or container gardening is all we need to have tomatoes and herbs all summer!. I just check the joint out every couple of days. Feed once a week. Done. It's not like we're farming fifty acres!
With a good layer of mulch, the weeding is a snap: There ARE no weeds!

Budget busters
No matter how hard we try, there is always something to wreck that budget it seems. I try hard to keep expenses down but any gift or party wrecks the budget for that week.

Self stick ideas.
For years I have purchased self stick adhesive paper to protect various parts of my home. Shelves, closest, drawers, etc. My family thinks I am nuts, in fact they started peeeling off the stuff and I screamed, It only has to be washed to look new again. I have used it on window sills so that if I water a plant and the water leaks out, it will just puddle and then get wiped up. In cabinets, with canned goods and jars, its great, because you just wipe any spills. I have been doing this for years. But I have found that you cannot find adhesive paoer anymore except in the craft stores. Clear only.; Does anyone know where you can buy more? ANy tips to share with others....
I have also used vinyl wallpaper to line shelves too. the left over kind that is washable....

GETTING THINGS YOU NEED FOR FREE
"Try to get things you need or want for free. In a surprising number of cases you can get whatever you need without spending a dime.
* Check local "free sales". Visit websites such as freecycle, Freesharing,Sharing is Giving or craigslist. These sites are so useful precisely because so many people buy things they don't need or replace perfectly good things with similar but newer things. You can decide to be smarter than that."
