German Shepherd Lover
Calling All Lovers Of...
German Shepherds, Belgian Shepherds, & Dutch Shepherds.
This is a fun group simply for our love the breed & for the love of our own dogs. A place that we can call our own to discuss anything our heart desires about our most loyal friends.
You don't have to love them for their bloodlines, titles, or championships, but if you are proud, feel free to brag!!!

Considering Another GSD
I was offered a female Grerman Shepherd Dog that is about a year older than my Sky. I often though that I'd like to get another GSD one day, but was thinking more about a male as opposed to a female. I've had 2 female shepherds at the same time before, but one was spayed & the other wasn't. The new one I'm considering is not spayed & because I plan to breed Sky, she is not either. Both seem to have the same kind of happy go lucky temperaments. This gal's present owners have a new set of twins & 2 other children & can no longer afford to keep her. They want to place her in a forever home, but naturally I have concerns about how the girls may get along. Sky is alpha & this other gal has been the only dog in her house since she was a pup. I'm in the process of buying a house with plenty of room & woods galore to run in, so I'd like to take her. Any Suggestions???
My Valentine
Hi!
I am new here. I have a 7 month 1 day old female GSD, Pleasanthills Valentine. We just call her Horsie! She comes from a major championship show line but she is pet quality, a gift from the breeder who is a good friend. She is a real lover, loves people, great with kids, happy. She thinks she is a lap dog LOL. She is terribly spoiled in that she gets tons of attention and loving, I even sing her to sleep at night because otherwise she cries in her crate.
She has terrible separation anxiety- in fact if I leave the room she cries and barks. I don't know what to do about it. We have tried ignoring her when we come and go but it doesn't make a difference. I think we are going to have to bring in a behavioral trainer.
We have another dog, a border collie mix and they get along pretty well. He is still the alpha dog and he sure lets her know even though she is more than twice his weight!
Blessings-

Separating Whites
Hello Everyone,
I am new to this group and would like to know everyone's views on separating the white to form their own breed. Does coat color matter? How can coat color determine on how a dog performs? I myself would like to see them separate. They are beautiful dogs who deserve to be recognized and shown in AKC. I know that their are many passionate views on this but would like to see what this group thinks.

X-rays and hip dyplasia
How 'bout a serious subject:
Do you think the OFA and Penn hip x-rays have improved the health of shepherd breeds?
Can you believe how much the vets charge for it? The OFA charges $35. The last vet I had quoted me $400.

New Photo of our two amazing Shepherds and MiniMix
I uploaded one of my photos of my three puppies. Snowball Blizzard Von Avalanche is 10 years old. Regalwise X-Calibur Sir Lanzelet is four months old and growing like a weed. And our mini mutt Bella who is a Pug/Chi mix and is an insane 7 months. The two youngest are going for agility classes and obedience and we are looking forward to doing competitions and showing our newest baby.
Have a nice day,

GOSH............. When I took over this group, I had all intentions of NOT being like the last owner!!!
I'm ashamed of myself, but yet I'm not as I'm sure what I have had to deal with was much more important than Eons & was on my "TOP Priority" list, as it should be.
Long story, & I won't get into details, but basically it has been a major court battle with my Ex over child support & seeing my daughter through 4 years of college. She had a nervous breakdown over all of this, so I had to stick by her. STILL not 100% out of the woods yet, but she is on a much more even keel now. She has been accepted at college & she WILL Graduate from HS this May!!!
My Sky has been such a WONDER Dog!!! So.................... in tune to all of our feelings!!! I just don't know what I would ever do without her!!!! She has been our "Rock of Gibraltar!!!"
For a little gal that once had this "Happy Go Lucky" the devil may care attitude, she sure became one protector. So............. much so, that she is like glue!!!
For those of you that knew Sky as that lack of attention pup............... Well, let me tell you that the crisis that we had in our life changed all of that!!! No more problems............... I can even let her loose now & she REALLY listens!!!
SMARTEST dogs on the face of this earth & this is why I am SO.......... very PROUD to be owned by her!!!
I WILL try to do better as the owner of this group, but we are STILL facing some more problems. One day at a time!!!
AND.................. The unconditional love from our Sky WILL help see us through this!!!

peticure
I just received my peticure last week it really is a great invention. you have to get the dog use to the sound but then it works well .One head come with mutipule sizes on it.
Also on the web site it shows you a couple of way to hold the dog or cat. I started with doing two nails and worked my way up. I think it work better if the nails are not extreamly long if thay are cut back a little then use the peticure it also gives a smooth nail when done. I must say I am pleased with it.

Peticure anyone?
I saw a commercial on Animal Planet for something called "Peticure", which appears to be like a dremel tool with a nail guard for trimming nails. I read a bunch of reviews and at first there was a problem with the rechargeable batteries, which seems to be resolved now.
My GSD is 13 months old, used to have no problems trimming his nails, but he got bigger and they got thicker, I think the nail clipper hurts now. He really objected when I had the vet tech do them.
Has anyone had any experience with the Peticure? They do sell the nail guard separately, for use with a dremel tool, I don't have a dremel, actually never thought of that for his nails, I'm kind of hesitant because I don't want to hurt him but doing it improperly. He does need to have his nails done.
Thank you for any input.
