Hoover/Huber Family from Switzerland
Hello:
I am researching the Hoover/Huber family from Switzerland. My Hoover family ended up in Pennsylvania and then (West) Virginia, Rockingham County, VA, to be specific.
Jacob Hoover m: Elizabeth Shoemaker. Their son, John, is my ancestor.
Jacob m: Elizabeth Lamb, second, and had Abraham, David, Mary and Catherine.
Anyone researching these families, please contact me.
Thanks!

Herrud Family
I joined this group because Herrud Family
I have in my possession a Family photograph taken in 1935 of the Herrud Family. It was taken Aug. 25, 1935 at Morrison Lake. I believe that is in Michigan. It appears to be a Family Reunion. There are well over 125 people in the picture. Mostly adults and a good portion of older children. The Photo was taken by
Chas Hash bercer. Of Grand Rapids, Michigan. I wrote this the way it was written on the Photograph. The b is close to looking like an h so it might be Hash hercer. There is a space between those letters.
On the front of the picture is written Herrud's First annual Picnic, Morrison Lake. Aug. 25, 1935
I'm certain that someone would love to have this photograph. I bought it at an estate sale in either Westland, or Wayne or possibly Livonia Michigan several years ago in hopes of finding a family member who would treasure this. The couple had died and everything they owned was for sale. I bought this one photo but their were many others that I have no idea what happened to. Prices were not cheap so if they didn't sell they may have been thrown away. So sad.
Is there someone researching Herrud line in Michigan? If so I have a treasure of a photo for you. Probably everyone one of your 1935 ancestors in that line but unfortunately no names are on the back to identify them. The photo is long and rolled up like a tube.
Contact me if interested.

Swiss Ancestry
From oral family history, I understand that my family came Switzerland but I have not been able to find the right piece of information to tie the connection together. I have been able to trace my family to New Jersey in the earlier 1800's but because so many of the records from that time period were distroyed I haven't been able to get past that point. I look forward to working with people that may have the same problems.
German Towns
Hi, all. I've just discovered Eons and am interested in tracing my German roots. At the moment, I'm trying to find the village of Holtenhausen, which is where my grandfather was born. His handwriting was quite bad so Holtenhausen was the best I could make out. However, I've not been able to find it listed in any gazetteer, on any old map of Germany, or on any new map. Has anyone heard of it? For some reason I feel it's somewhere along the Rhine, as there are a lot of streets, etc. with our family last name in and around Mainz. Looking forward to hearing from you all.
German Genealogy
I noticed that there wasn't a site for German research, in general, so I created one. I also included Austria and Switzerland, where one-third of the country speaks German, also. West and East Prussia are also covered in this group.
I will make sure to refer anyone looking for Swiss, Anabaptist or Mennonite ancestors to this site, too. It can never hurt to put out as many "feelers" as we can.
Btw, I have a Swiss Anabaptist family (NEFF) in my family. Elizabeth NEFF (NAEF), born in the early 1700's, emigrated to East Prussia and married Georg STEINER.

Looking for Mennonite members
The description says that the members are looking for German/ Swiss ancestors. My roots are Pennsylvania Dutch/Swiss, but we were "fancy" Dutch and I have since become Mennonite (not conservative) although where I live now there are no congregations.
Are there any Mennonites in the group for fellowship?
Melanie Dias (married name-my Swiss ancestors are Bresslers)

Swiss German Genealogy
Hello friends. I am not new new to Eons, but I haven't really taken advantage of all the site has to offer. Now the days are getting shorter and I can't garden. So you all will have to help me fill in my time! I am researching my Swiss German ancestors and am really kind of stuck. I have my gg grandfather arriving in Feb 1854 on the ship Bavaria from LeHavre. His name was Johann Yenzer born about 1819 and according to census records was Swiss. He had his wife and 6 children with him. They settled in Toledo, OH. One of the sons was named Frederich born about 1845. He stayed in Toledo, but I know some of the family moved to Washington state. I have my direct line from Fred on down, but would also like to find my "cousins" I have some info on them, but not much. I also have a Kisinger line I'm trying to find the German origins on, but I've gone on long enough for this time so will close this for now and hope I hear from someone even if it's just to say hi. I'm new to this group
and very recent to eons, too, but not to genealogy research. You might want to visit my genealogy blog at my profile. Your feedback would be much appreciated. Danke Schoen!

Suhr and Sticklin
Hello all, Just found this site and it's great to see a site dedicated to the Swiss German ancestry. The Suhrs and Sticklins came from Bern, Switzerland in the early 1800s and settled in Tioga County, PA.
I have membership in Ancestry.com and would do reasonable lookups for anyone who needs them.

New in the Group!
Hello all,
I am new to both EONS and this group, but when I found that there were genealogy groups here, I was very interested! I have German ancestry, who I am told, were Mennonites. I have always hoped that I could maybe trace them through this religeon, but haven't got a clue where to start! If anyone can give me some hints it would be great.
I live in Oregon, but my grandfather's German parents some how ended up in Nebraska after the immigrated here.
Thank you all! Sue
