Flea Market Sellers
As I am retiring and starting out as a flea market seller, I thought I'd start a group to see if any others are interested in the same thing...a place to share ideas, tricks and strategies.

How about posting what sells best for you and why? For me, it's books and movies. I do sell quite a bit of kitchen stuff, misc., and jewelry but the books and movies move best right now.

Selling things to get by financially
I'm wondering if any of you who have recently begun to sell things at flea markets are doing so because you need another source of income to pay your bills and cover living expenses. I'm doing a story on just that for Fifty Plus Advocate newspapers and am looking to speak with people who are doing that who would be willing to share their experiences and advice with others. If you're willing to either talk by phone or answer some questions via email, please drop me a line at bgoslow@yahoo.com.
Thanks, and good selling! BG

New direction
Hi, all. Things are changing rapidly here. The owner of the FM I have two booths in is treating the managers terribly shabbily. Thus, I'm thinking of opening my own bigger FM with them as managers and pay them a salary (the present owner doesn't which is ridiculous. They've been working for her for four months without pay to help her out and have increased walk-in traffic and sales at least 500% or more.) We're looking at a much larger building where we can double the booth space. I'm really excited about this as they are incredible managers with wonderful business sense and the books they keep would make the IRS look bad. LOL. We'll really be partners but as their funds are extremely limited, I'll be fronting the money and taking it out of profits later on. Wish me well gals. These guys are wonderful people and know this business inside and out. I know the three of us can make money at this.

Hope all of you are doing well
My ventures are picking up. Found some cute coloring books on super sale at the grocery store, went to the dollar store for crayons and am packaging them up in vacuum sealed bags and going to make a few cents off of them. There is very little in the shop for kiddos who come in with their parents. If that goes well, I'll expand a bit to some inexpensive toys.
If anyone is interested, I was turned onto a website that is a portal to hundreds of wholesale sites. In some cases you don't need a tax number, some cases there is no minimum to guy. Takes days to wade through it but I've found a few things I'm going to get to put in the shop. Just an idea for anyone wanting to expand a bit. The website is view link It's worth a peek.
Happy buying/selling out there.

Welcome to new members
Please post an intro. I'd love to get to know all of you.
I have had to expand and rent a second booth and have filled it to the brim also. I checked out our barn and I have enough "stuff" to restock both booths yet again. Now that the season is here, am hitting garage sales and finding lots of things that I can repurpose into other neat things with a little cleaning up,creativity and redoing. Now getting ready to start filling some the interesting things I've purchased with soy wax and wicks and making scented candles out of them. New adventures very day.
Wishing you all great selling and hope you will drop by soon.

Where is everyone???
Are you all out finding treasures? I'm still going through boxes and have literally filled my booth to the brim. I'll go through boxes of books next and start rotating stock. I'm really making myself be brave and getting rid of stuff that i haven't seen or use in years, regardless of whether I think "I might need that later on." Haven't needed it in 4 years so I doubt I'll need it any time soon.
Drop in and let us know what you're up to.

Having so much fun
It's been like Christmas every day around here since I stated going through old boxes and finding stuff to put in my booth. I'm finding stuff I'd forgotten I had, stuff I thought I had lost and already replaced and some stuff I don't even remember ever having and, most important, stuff I've been looking for for years. What is everyone else doing?
