Tomato Plants

Hello, I'm new to the group and I have a question about Tomato Plants.

This is the first garden I have had in many years. My plants are all in big flowerpots, not in the ground. My tomato plants have lots of little yellow flowers on them, but the blooms are not turning into tomatoes. One plant has one tomato, but no other blooms. I planted them at the same time.

Is there somthing I should be doing to help these plants start growing tomatoes instead of flowers??????

New member needs advice

Hi, Fellow Gardeners;

I'm a novelist with a greenhouse and very little time to spend growing my own vegetables, but my cucumber plants are already nearly waist high (I'm tall), and my tomatoes aren't growing well. I wonder what I'm doing wrong. Any tips on successful tomato growing?

Thanks,
Jean

Celery HELP!!!

Hi everyone,
I'm new to the group. I've had a garden off and on for close to 40 years. It's gotten a lot smaller in the last 10 years or so! Anyway, I need help with growing celery. It's one thing I've never attempted because I remember my Father growing it when I was a child. He used to put big juice cans over it to bleach it so it wasn't bitter. My son decided to grow it this year and he's asking me what to do. I don't know what to tell him. Does anyone out there grow celery???

New Member Oregon

Greetings All,
This is my 1st garden in over 20 years. I am interested in straw bale gardening and wondered if anyone else is trying this method? Is there a seed exchange here?
Thanks Cat

OOPS, Now what? LOL

First let me say thanks for having a group like this here on Eons, the information and ideas will help to make my garden more fruitful and my meals healthier, not to mention much better tasting.

This year I got off to a great start with one exception~a packet of my seeds were mislabled, so I ended up planting some Butternut (winter) squash. The plants are huge and full of flowers, they seem to be very happy. My question is will they produce any actual squash this time of year or just a gorgeous plant? I hope someone can help me with this. If they will not produce I could plant something else in their place. Thanks in advance, debbie in texas

More questions, lol

Thanks e'one for the info on winter squash, now how do I know when they are ready to harvest? They have turned from light green to a peach color but are not as big as the ones in the grocery store. Should I let them continue to grow or pick them now? They are about 5-6 inches long. Also, from the same group of seeds some of the fruit are long and some are short and round, what's up with that?

Next, I found a small bug/worm? on a new tomato. It was burrowing a hole, I got it out but should I remove the tomato from the bush or will it be ok. Kinda yucky to think about eating it after that, lol.

Ya'll have been very helpful to me, thanks so much.

Gardening

Hi: I thought I would join this group as I love growing everything from flowers to vegetables. I have gardened all my life from teenager on up. I never lived on a farm, but I always had a small plot. I used to plant an acre, then a 1/2 acre and now have only two built up spaces 4x12. On good years, I cann tomatoes. This year, no rain, so the crop was not that good. I raised egg plant. lettuce, bell peppers, onions, beans and cucumbers.I raise two gardens, one in the spring and one in the fall. We can do that in Texas. Would love to hear from some of you.
