It's All About the Dancing
It's always about the dancing. I wish I could spend all day dancing. I took ballet lessons for years as a child and other types of dance over the years. You name it, I have taken the dance lessons. In 1999, I started taking ballroom dancing because I wanted to learn the mambo. Well, I got hooked. I started doing pro-am competitions in both American Smooth and Rhythm. I was starting to do Internations style too. It became my passion. Unfortunately, I have been having some money problems the last few years and haven't been able to indulge but I am working them out and hope to go back to the dancing someday.
I still follow my teachers who compete professionally and of course, always watch Dancing with the Stars - every episode. I often vote too, especially at the end of the series. I would be willing to meet to go dancing socially, if anyone lives in the NYC, northern New Jersey area.

Dancing
I use to be a dancing fanatic, but these days as our years grow older, we seem to become dancing in "slow motion", which is okay, as long as you keep dancing. I can no longer wear platform shoes, or 4 inch stelleto high heels, due to my low back, but I'm still trying to walk/run, and wear my platform shoes, whenever I can.

Hi, I'm George Mabe ( The Texas Dancer )from Channelview, Texas. I'm 57 years old and I love to dance the Two Step, Polka, Waltz, and the East Coast Swing. I'll post some pictures. Keep on dancing.

The Walk
I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's Day. I had a wonderful day with my family who came to see me walk/run for a good cause and then they took me out to dinner. My day was simply wonderful. I made good time and am ready for the next challenge.
Thinking about Dancing
Happy Mother's Day everyone, mom's, dad's, companions, anyone with children. These days, anyone might be raising children, even elders, like us, me, 61 and my husband who is 76!! But we enjoy my little granddaughter to pieces!!
Tomorrow I will be thinking about dancing as I'm walking a 5k for Breast Cancer Awareness. I feel so good to be doing this, I don't know why I didn't walk before. I guess getting older brings up such concerns. So far, both my husband and myself have had no major health issues and we pray to God that we don't.
So, I believe that good karma returns good karma and we try to focus on good healthy thoughts. My thoughts are to stay healthy to see my granddaughter to adulthood. We are her caregivers since she was born, and I worry that something is going to happen to us where we will not be able to care for her. Oh, by the way, she does have her parents, my son and my daughter-in-law, who are good parents, but these days, they have to work so hard to keep homes, etc. Child care is just another burden. So we stepped in to help.
So think of me as dancing my way to the finish line and contributing to a good cause. Happy Mother's Day !!!

Hi dancers!
I am so thrilled I just have to share with you all.
I have been taking private ballroom dance lessons for the past 8 months with the express purpose of getting "certified" to teach basic beginners. This entailed learning not just the woman's part but the guy's part is six dances: waltz, foxtrot, rumba, cha cha, tango and swing.
Last night I completed my assignment and I am now a certified dance teacher. I am happy the ordeal is over, but also proud of myself for sticking with it. Now I can teach beginners and earn a little extra income, which was the whole point. And when I retire in a few years can maybe even set up my business.
I love ballroom dancing. It makes you feel special and graceful and you really get so much more into the music than just standing on the dance floor shaking your booty!
