Latest group announcement
A Years Progress

Its been about a year since I started this group and I am declaring an anniversary. This all started with my hope to find people in the same boat as myself but has grown into something much richer. I remember when it was just me posting the group and wondering what to call it. I have heard some folks object to the word Survivors as they prefer fighters instead. Believe me when I say that anyone who is a survivor is a fighter of the first order. I will never change the name of this group. The first people that joined me in this are still the most that respond to any one that needs our help so I was very fortunate to attract them at the start. We are now 60 members and considering how early Eons hid us away it is a very impressive number to me as now we have reached a level that I believe is self sustaining. There are so many people to thank for their early efforts and input I don't know where to start but you know who you are. My motives to start this group were in a way rather selfish as I wanted to communicate with anyone that was going through what I was and it seemed like a good idea to try. I now think it was the best idea I ever had as I have seen and read so much fine input and assistance from one member to another that I sometimes break out in tears that it has worked so well. God bless and keep every one of you and my only wish is to reach more people that need us as much as we need them. I was miserable when I started this group and now I am a happy and healthy man. Most of which I can thank this group for as they saw me through my dark hours. Please share with us when you are in a dark place so we can help you. There is hope by just surviving from one day to the next. I am living proof. New visitors please read the previous announcement that has to do with the rules of the group. This is a very lucky group as we have only lost one member's daughter so far and even though our hearts were broken she has not been forgotten. You have all made me proud with your spirit and strength of will. I love you all.

Thanks AGAIN!
Again - I am so thankful I found this group on EONS!! A special thanks to everyone who responded to my inquiry about Support groups. All the info was helpful. I live outside of Boston, so like others who live in remote areas I have many choices and found a Breast Cancer Support Group near by. I would not have known how to do this without YOUR help. The organization is totally free and offers services like yoga, meditation and the like. I plan on checking out the group this Saturday and if I am not pleased, I have 2 other choices locally. But - this EON's group has already shown me so much support and given me hope, that I am already in a better place! THANK YOU!!

Cancer Support Groups
I am a widow, and also retired from a long career. Some days I have too much time on my hands. I am 3 days away from my "Consult" appointment with the surgeon and I am nervous, scared, and a bit depressed. This cancer is going to change my life, just as the death of my spouse changed everything I knew and loved about my old life. Did anyone join a cancer support group? Was it helpful? I wonder if the doctor can introduce me to one, or how do you find them? I think I need someone to talk to, and this group has been a real help, but face to face might be even better. I miss my husband so badly. As he said to me right before he died, "This is another fine mess you've gotten me into!" :0)
Inquiring minds want to know!
Mike (blorno) and his Mod Squad have been contacting members who have never posted or haven't posted in a while to find out what they want to see on this site. We are getting some wonderful responses and will start posting them here so that we can all share our experiences and give our feedback. The first topic is one that hits home for me in a big way and we have talked about this before quite a while ago. It is important enough in my estimation to get a re-run. How do you deal with family and friends who are having trouble dealing with your cancer? What do you want or need them to do or say? What do you do about the ones who slip away because they can't deal with it? Please let us hear from you! And have a wonderful Friday!
Peace! Karen

Thanks to the members of the group
I just want to say that I am really grateful for the support of this terrific group. Several members have been helpful and supportive to me this week after I just learned I have breast cancer. I am sure glad EONS has such a group to help people at this difficult time in their lives. Thanks to all of you for your advice and understanding!
Music
You all know my main focus of this group has always been the support and sharing of advice from all the members. Some of you know of my love for music of all types. I post some every now and then as I know that in my lowest moments music lifts me out of them. Some of you may share this blessing and some may not. I only know the magic it does for me and when I'm feeling low I seek out these gems. I give to those that may be interested a really cool version of Boz Skaggs Live doing "Lido Shuffle" I put it in ~First reply

Cancer and (Osteo) Arthritis
Yes, I have gone through 37 radiation treatments after a 2004 Uterine Cancer Surgery. I have Osteoarthritis of the lower back and spine, and in my legs (especially the knees). The radiation has not affected me one way or the other. Good luck!
Uterine cancer survivor
I'm his wife and I was dx w/uterine cancer 2 yrs ago and had surgery. After recovery, I noticed that my stomach/waist area are very loose and won't tighten with the normal exercise I used to do. It's hard to get back to my usual exercise program and wondered if anyone had any suggestions on any exercise program to tighten the area or any supplements. I go once a week for a 30 min boot camp lesson. I also see a great naturopath that has me on a supplement regimen but I still seem to not be comfortable with my middle. Thank you. AJS
