Just finished a snowman quilt. Have to put on the binding and I'm done. It's applique and came out really cute. Am also working on a teddy bear quilt for my Grandson and a toddler quilt for my great niece that is all little dresses, looks like dresses for paper dolls. Have pictures but I can't find my camera right now - will post when I find it.
Also have done some squares with chickens that are funny and want to make them into placemats. Heard about this plastic that can be ironed on. Has anyone tried this?

So how well do you know your history?

Dangerous Freedom
READ: Galatians 5:1-6,16-21
Do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. —Galatians 5:13
Freedom is dangerous in the hands of those who don’t know how to use it. That’s why criminals are confined in prisons with barbed wire, steel bars, and concrete barriers. Or consider a campfire that is allowed to spread in a dry forest. It quickly becomes a blazing inferno. Unchecked freedom can create chaos.
Nowhere is this more evident than in the Christian life. Believers are free from the law’s curse, its penalty, and its guilt-producing power. Fear, anxiety, and guilt are replaced by peace, forgiveness, and liberty. Who could be more free than one who is free in the depths of his soul? But here is where we often fail. We use freedom’s luxury to live selfishly, or we claim ownership of what God has merely entrusted to us. We slip into patterns of self-indulgent living, especially in affluent societies.
The proper use of freedom is “faith working through love” to serve one another (Gal. 5:6,13). When we rely on the Spirit and expend our energies on loving God and helping others, the destructive works of the flesh will be restrained by God (vv.16-21). So let’s always use our liberty to build up, not to tear down.
Like a raging fire, freedom without limits is dangerous. But when controlled, it is a blessing to all. —Dennis De Haan
Christ came to give us liberty
By dying in our place;
Now with new freedom we are bound
To share His love and grace. —D. De Haan
Freedom doesn’t give us the right to do what we please, but to do what pleases God.

You see this advice everywhere in dating columns and on dating blogs.
But what does that mean, be yourself? I have a whole lot of selves I sure as shootin' am not going to let out of their cages. We all have a lot of selves, and not all those selves are fit to be in mixed company.
So does it mean be the self you want your date to see and love? Then what happens when your other selves come sneaking out and scare the bejeezus out of your date? The ones you wish he/she didn't have to know about?
Be yourself. Yeah. Sure.

(Or) The history of "Seek Him First"
I was scrolling thru the messages posted by DesertStar53 this morning and realized that I wanted to comment on all of them. They are full of God's amazing truths and blessings. Instead I will go back a couple of years and give you the background of how this group began!
In June or July of 2007 I joined Eons with the screen name of cricket48 and posted something and attached the little blue sky picture to it. Then I got very busy at work and was not on line very much. A couple of weeks later, I got back on line and someone, I don't even remember who, had taken my little picture and the title of the post, "Seek Him First" and started a group. I got very upset and closed my account. Eventually, I missed some of the people I had interacted with, and came back with my current screen name in August of 2007, and started posting in the group this person had started. By then, this person had abandoned the group. It had very few members.
A friend in the group urged me to become the manager and get things going. After a lot of prayer and thought I did. I wanted to establish the site for devotionals, because after all, that is what had inspired my original post. Every morning, I would add a little bit more to it; my close friends joined and it eventually got to be what I had hoped it would be.
SEEK HIM FIRST means just that. My prayer was exactly that..to seek and commune with God before doing anything else. By Christmas of that year, I was getting very busy with family issues, and work and I thought about closing the group but I realized something~~~~It was worth working the group even if only one person received a blessing from it daily. ~~ We had people come and go as in all groups but the group really never got very large...and in April of 2008, I got very ill and my computer also crashed..it seemed as though Satan was after me. My mother passed away and I had to retire for health reasons. Things looked bleak and I was having more computer problems. It seemed as though only a very few people posted or even commented.
While I was immobolized, my very good friend kept helping me with the posts and eventually it became a strictly devotional site. I thanked God for his help but his time was also limited due to other responsibilities. I started praying about the group. My computer was not up to snuff and I could not afford to get a new one and do the necessary postings~~couldn't even manage the banner, I was going to close the group~~ after much prayer instead of notifying the members of the closing, I posted a request for a New Manager. That is when DesertStar came on the sceen. She was looking for a Group and God had led her to me. It took a couple of weeks to sort thru the changes and Desert was so very patient. What a blessing she is!
She promised me that she would keep the integrity of the group true to its original purpose; praise and worship. That she and Dutch have been able to increase membership and enhance the posts is truly a blessing from God. If only one person gets blessed each day, it will have been worth the work. And believe me, it is a responsibility that weighs heavily on both Desert and Dutch. Please give them your support and prayers. This is a very special couple and this is a very special group.~~ Let's Seek Him First in all things~~We will reap the rewards!!

Can someone PLEASE explain?
with over 2 million refugees receiving help in Pakistan America is sending millions of millions of dollars in aid there yet the refugees will never know this. In fact they will beileve that thre aid is coming from moslim backed groups that are anti america and are spreading that message. how right is this and are there any real options?
Our president, Mr. Obama, has acted swiftly and harshly to the news that Honduras' democratically-elected, lame-duck president Manuel Zelaya has been ousted by a military coup in that country. A coup that apparently the Congress and Supreme Court of Honduras support and encouraged.
Granted, Zelaya was democratically elected and defeated, to be replaced in 5 months time, but he is also big buds with the likes of Fidel Castro, Daniel Noriega, and Hugo Chavez. He has apparently taken his presidency to mean that he can freely edit and rewrite parts of the Honduran Constitution that were not to his liking. He is friendly with and encourages drug smugglers to make their runs through Honduras. And has generally not shown much concern that his country is and remains the poorest in Central America. He is not a popular figure in Honduras, needless to say.

Along with President Obama, many countries and the OAS have decided that their tactic to get him reinstated will be to further economically and financially impair Honduras and its people. They are after all the poorest of the poor in Central America already. Why not make it even worse for these already suffering people?
Why is this such a huge concern of Pres. Obama's? Why are we feeling so free about meddling in their business?
We see now that he CAN act swiftly and harshly, so why couldn't he have shown some of that a couple weeks ago, or even now, toward Iran?
Are y'all ready for a sizeable new wave of illegal immigrants because they'll be coming? Hondurans are already quite well represented where I live, but I am betting on a big influx in the next couple of months. And it won't be the rich or well-educated. It will be the poor and the gangs. And we all know how porous our southern border is, thanks to Pres. Obama.
