Well, we have been in our summer cottage for a little over a week now, and except for forgetting to bring a few things, everything has been so much fun. We are close to the beach, and have been enjoying swimming, even though the water is just a little chilly. After you get numb you can't even tell it's cold! We love the Sandwich area, and have been doing a lot of exploring. I have been to a Farmers Market which just began this summer in Sandwich, and the strawberries and vegetables and breads were wonderful! I'm going back this afternoon to get more. The cottage is spacious, and we have a yard to sit in with lots of flowers, which the people we are renting from said would be ok to pick for bouquets for the house. The church (Corpus Christi Parish) is fairly new (5 years old), and quite a cathedral. Everyone was so welcoming when we went to Mass this past weekend. So far we have met so many wonderful people who have given us lots of hints about where to go and what to see, not only in this town, but on the Cape. Next week we have made appointments with a realtor to check out properties in both Bourne and Sandwich, as we have narrowed our search to these two areas. There are lots of places for sale, just like the rest of the country, so we should have lots to look at. Thanks to my missing friend MominMaine, we have checked with the local town hall and water department regarding any problems from the military facility in the area. It seems there has been a massive cleanup for the last few years, and things are better now. These two places also mentioned where the most desirable areas are in the two towns. So, all things considered, I hope we have enough info to make a wise decision. We enjoyed the fireworks in Falmouth on July 4th. Really beautiful over the water at the beach, and we have eaten at some of the local restaurants, which have been very good price-wise and food-wise. We didn't think this cottage had internet access, but it does, so I will be posting more often than I originally thought I could. I hope everyone is well and enjoying their summer.
