For those of you who are not members of my groups, you probably don't know that I was chosen to appear in People magazine's "Most Beautiful People In The World" (May 7, 2007) issue in its Dove Pro·Age "50 Most Beautiful People Over 50" advertisement. The issue hits the news stands on April 28th. I am so excited that I have been shouting it from the rooftops ever since I got the call from People on March 26th.

I should have added this to my "LifeDreams" since I have been reading People magazine ever since 1977. I have always said that I was going to get in that magazine even if I had to hold up a bank! But this is such a better way, don't you think? I can't share the photo with you here because it is now the property of People and Dove but, other than the eyeglasses, my current Eons Profile photo is pretty close. Same hair, same expression. Different suit and a grey turtleneck sweater.

The 50 people who were chosen is a testament to the fact that the world is now recognizing its most powerful and fastest growing demographic. Those of us who are still in the workforce have more disposable income. Accordingly, there are now more products geared towards our age group and that is increasing every year. Dove's new Pro Age line was created for women over 40, whose skin and hair require a different standard of care than that of our daughters and granddaughters. The mottos on its ads are "Dove Is Pro·Age - Not Anti·Age"™ and "Beauty Has No Age Limit"™.

Remember when 40 to 55 was "midde aged" and everyone above that qualified for "Denny's Senior Menu"? Now some of the most beautiful women in the world are 40 to 75. Ladies, no more pink nylon running suits and Easy Spirit shoes for us. We are now wearing the skinny-leg jeans and Manolo Blahniks pumps just like those "young'uns" 30+ years our junior. And you men need to think a second time about leaving your good wives after 35 years of marriage for a "20-something" with the same amount of air between her ears as she had between her armpits. When "Stella Got Her Groove Back", young men realized who really had the "groove"! Look at Demi (45) & Ashton (28) and Halle (40) & Gabriel (31) Who needs Viagra when you can have Vin Diesel and Morris Chestnut!? Ooooh! I get all tingly just thinking about it!

I want to thank People magazine and Dove Pro Age for this honor. And a big "shout out" to Jeff Taylor for giving us a place that we can call home. My win and that of the other 49 people is a win for us all. If 30 is the new 20, and 40 is the new 30, then 50 is the new FABULOUS!!!
