When you were young, and interested in art, did your parents try to keep you from majoring in it in college?
Mine did, and though I'm happy in my work, I long to dedicate some time learning how to finesse my artisitic talents.
So, I'm planning to change my work schedule so that I can take an art course at one of the nearby art programs.
I've heard of people starting really late on this stuff--Grandma Moses, etc. So, maybe it isn't too late for me!
Taking time for art?

Your parents certainly had your best interest in mind when they encouraged you to pursue a more secure vocation. The Art world is crowded with so many people with amazing talent, that it is an easy field to find yourself frustrated in it. This seems to be an occupational hazard when you study some of the masters. However, Art can also bring a great deal of satisfaction, if you do it for yourself and loved ones, (and not need it to pay for your kids college tuition!!) If you feel the desire to experience the pleasure of you artistic creativity, break out the paints and go for it. If you like what you see (and feel) then try a class. I did this before I signed up for the class I was arranging, and liked what I saw and felt, going back to a long lost interest. It's not too late, in fact the timing is great. Enjoy!!
