Since I retired from the postal service, I have been learning to live again. The pressure releases on a daily basis and I am rediscovering sights and sounds I have ignored or brushed past. Today as I was pushing my grandson around the block, we stopped to watch a robin. It was a newborn robin just learning to spread it's wings. My grandson saw the robin and he pointed without saying anything. We stopped and watched the bird about eight feet over our heads in the branch of a tree. We watched together and the bird cocked its head and watched us as if she knew we were watching her. I know that I have noticed many, many robins in my 61 years, but this was the first time that I gave it so much thought. I was sharing this simple experience and watching this robin through the eyes of my grandson. He may not remember this day, but I will. The afternoon was very special because my little 2-year old guy is growing fast and he stopped grandpa and made me take time to watch a robin ina tree.
