To be a kid again? Oh my goodness, are you kidding? Look at that bycicle, look at the beautiful freedom to roam and feel the wind caress your face. This would make me feel like a child again. Just think of the possibilities. The adventures. The skinned knees. hehe
First let me give credit to Barbara Strisand who so perfectly explainded to be a kid again. One of my favorites. She takes me back to all the possibilities that still lay there in the wonderment of the child spirit. So many of these things we can still do now. It is a mind set to allow our minds to dream, while laying on a blanket at night and pointing out the stars and making a wish.

Wow, to ride that bike. As a child I am totally saving up my milk bottle caps, hoping against all hope to win that bike, holding my breath, waiting for my series of numbers to be called. This contest has already put me in a child like thinking, waiting for the next decoder ring, to jump rope and trying to do a double dutch. Play in the mud puddles after a rain. Catch fireflies and put them in a jar, only to set them free. To be bare footed all the time. To roller skate on the sidewalk that really does require that key. (snicker)
Oh and remember the tents made in the house, using blankets over furnitue to make our hideways. The fort made of old lumber.
The pride of finally being a Brownie and earning those badges. Don't tell anyone...........shhhhhhhh it's a big secret. Can you keep a secret? I was a girl scout all the way through high school, not many people knew.
Remember picking the flowers of the honey suckles and sucking the sweetness out. Chewing on a stalk of sugar cane. Making Hawian leis from gardenias.
How, about red rover, hop scotch for hours and hours at a time or jacks as if it was as important as, say Texas Holdem.
Did ya ever make mud pies and then eat them? Have two tin cans with a string, thinking we had a great line of communication.
We used to put on plays at least once a week in the summer, in the hot garage, with a make shift curtain and hold parents and other neighbors hostage for as long as the play was. Or how about wishing you were Cathy on the Lawerance Welk show. My grandfather teaching me the twist.
I spent hours in the sandlot, making not just castles, but entire cities. Give me a sandlot, puddles after a rain and that bycicle and I am a child again, with big dreams of riding with the big kids.

Oh D, you have brought back so many memories for me in this blog. Some happy and some sad. Happy cause I remember doing all those things with my friends when I was younger & sad cause many of the people in those memories are gone for me now - freinds and family.
Life was so simple when we were younger & too bad we can't have that in our older years. Always something to pull us away from the things we want to do to make us happy, even just being alone with a good book or our thoughts.. Instead we are pulled in so many directions now - children, grandkids, work and keeping ahead of all that has to be done in one day it seems.
We do need to take time for ourselves - even just to reflect on the years that have slipped away from us and to look forward to the future years. With all that is going on in the world we need this quiet time for our sanity and to have some contentment in our lives.
Thank you again sweetie, very powerful blog.
You do have a way with words girl that make us think and reflect.
Luv ya Diana, K

This is a good blog girlfriend. I do remember some of those things and even more. Hot summer days sitting on the curb and popping tar bubbles with my toes and then yelping cause it was hot! I think you still have that little girl in you and what a blessing it is! Love you.
