I am so glad this song won the Video of the Year at the CMT Awards. Here is the video, with Jennifer Nettles, raw, vulnerable, and with little make-up, with just the acoustic guitar, making it even more real. If you haven't REALLY listened to the lyrics, you have to, in order to really understand the message. Until the bridge and the last chorus, she's begging him to stay with her and not go to the other woman (wife or mistress?). At the bridge and the last chorus, her whole emotional attitude changes, telling him that if he can't make the commitment to her that she needs, "why don't you stay" (with her).
My husband and I have been on opposite sides of whether Jennifer is portraying the wife or the mistress. What do you think?
