He wished she still held him as she had when they were younger. He recalled her last kiss before she'd turn out the light, and warm cuddles they'd share in the mornings. They would spend the nights in close comfort, he ever-vigilant, and she so peacefully sleeping, never surrendering her embrace. He became lost in memories as the rain beat a soothing tattoo against the sash. How he longed for the days of knowing her love. When had she drifted away? Now days would pass while he'd sit patiently near her pillow, with nary a glance cast his way. Still, there were days she would reach for him, close her eyes, and hug him tightly. Teddy lived for those days...
