I know. Here I go talking about my Coupe phone again. I know there have been questions about why I blog about it so much. Well, I LOVE my phone and use it a lot. And it is quite often in the center of something going on in my life. And (as some of the other Eons Member who've met me know) I talk -- a lot! So, last Friday I read an article about Jott and Goog411 in The New York Times. Here's what they are:

Jott lets you verbally jott something down using your phone and send it to yourself or someone else. For example, I just pick up my phone, press the speed dial for Jott, say my husband's name, then remind him to make that appointment to get the car checked before we go on vacation. He gets a phone message with the Jott. Or you can "jott" to yourself: a grocery list, a reminder to pick up your prescription, an idea for a new chapter in that book you're writing. Whatever you want. And, unlike leaving yourself voicemail, you can leave the jott as a voice message or an email or a text message on your phone. Sign up for Jott at jott.com. It is a totally FREE service.

Goog411 is a 411 service from Google that looks up business phone numbers for you and places the call—for free. You just dial 800-Goog-411 (or 800-466-4411), say the location (City/State), the name or type of business, and Goog411 will connect you to that business FREE. You can use it to find a business by name or by type (e.g., dry cleaners), and it will connect you. I used it this past weekend, and it works great!

Here are my tips for the day:

1. Put Goog411 on one of your speed dials (800-466-4411). Use it the next time you're looking for a pizza place in an unfamiliar town/neighborhood.

2. Sign up for Jott at jott.com and use this free reminder service.

3. Read the article in The New York Times for some other free services, too. (I can't link to it... but here's the info: June 5, 2008 State Of the Art: Cell Services Keep It Easy, and Free By DAVID POGUE: "Several super-simple cellular services are so sweet and satisfying, you can’t believe they’re free.")

They're easy and definitely worth a speed dial number on your phone. So let's BOOM our phones!

P.S. My next blog will NOT be about phones, I promise!
