So what about Karma?
What happens when a little girl who has had a pretty tough year all around winds up the end of her school year?

This little girl is pretty special, albeit I am her mamma and I am a little biased, but truly she is.
She is sweetness and kindness with a spark of spunk thrown into the mix. She has her days when she pouts and cries but overall considering the year she has gone through; she has been quite the trooper.
Most days she wakes up ready to take on the day with anticipation and a smile.
She has been so brave in the face of uncertainty and changes.

The school year is ending and it’s award ceremony time.
I knew she wouldn’t get an award for “perfect attendance” because once in awhile we are bad and on my day off, I let her take it off too- for fun.
I knew she wouldn’t get an award for “mathematics” because she struggles with it and her mamma is not much help in that department, I think she has already surpassed me, and I admitted it to her.

But she loves to create.
And she loves to read.
She loves P.E.
And she loves stories and drawing.
She also loves science.

There was a project in which the kids had to make a rocket that they would launch “into space.”
She made hers covered in flowers and a peace party bus along with some little drawings that she made.
She wanted me to make a couple to add to it so I could "be there" in some sense when the rocket went off.
She was thrilled because her rocket went the furthest of anyone else’s in the class.
It made sense though, after all, it was a “peace rocket.”

So last Thursday she gets an award for “Creative Story Sharer.”
I cringe a bit as to what stories she is telling but nonetheless, I think it’s the coolest award of the evening…beats “Perfect attendance” in my eyes.

Today she got awards for physical Education, reading, handwriting (related to drawing, right?) and for placing at the District for the Science Fair project.
For the last, she received a medal that I pinned on her dress that said “1st Place.”

The smile on her face was amazing and her she got her pat on the back for persevering through this year with such strength and courage.

You know the saying, “Karma is a bitch” well,Karma has always been good to me and mine.
