Met up with the group and have traveled to Yangshou to see the karst mountains shrouded in mist and to go on a 4-hour bike ride out into the country to visit a small village on wet, pock-marked dirt roads. Quite an adventure in the light rain.
Then went onto Three Rivers Gorges and Dam for a 2-night cruise that was so overcast not much was worth photographing. The Olympic Torch Relay came thru so the Chinese Gov't was tightening down the security and it affected our intinerary a bit. They are afraid a Tibetan group will bomb the dam for repressions in their country. But nothing happened.
Many trucks traveling thru the area with heavy equipment intended for the earthquake area and in small towns there are posted signs displaying how much each person in the village has donated to the relief effort...the heavy hand of group pressure weighing on the conscious of the people.....
