The real problem is us...and our neighbors world-wide, not accepting alternatives to gas and petroleum based products. The car manufacturers may be stalling on bringing out fuel efficient vehicles, but it's US that continues to buy the big gas hogs. It US not telling congress to mandate alternatives NOW; get US ALL off the oil and gas.
We have to be willing to give up something here, a little freedom, some basic changes. WE turn to hyrdrogen, fuel cells, solar, compressed-air, battery/electric NOW. These things will improve with innovation and funding, but they must be done NOW.
Companies must be willing to reduce their profit levels and launch these earth friendly products now, and WE need to support them and their usage.

I've been saying all along that our "rebates" will be going in our fuel tanks and our stomachs.
Chiptin I agree totally with what you're saying. I'm hearing, "well build more refineries"...the hell with that, GO GREEN! and then build the facilities to develop and manufacture these earth friendly products...tell the oil producing nations to KISS OUR HINEYS!

ford or one of the other auto companies have shut down a plant that produces large trucks or SUVs. The demand for hybreds and bicycles are going thru the roof. I think people are getting the message. We go out to dinner every friday and each time there are fewer cars than before. I hate to drive anywhere because of the price of gasoline. The price for a gallon of gasoline it up to 3.80 a gallon here in Dunedin, Flrida

This is so true, I know people who work at the prison, who aren't state workers, but hired thru a temp agency who have to pick their choice, gas or food, that's disgusting, to think that this rich country has gone back to the 30's when so many people were starving, what the hell is wrong with our government? Don't they get the hint, or don't they care at all?

Cause of what Chiptin wrote, I went down there to buy one of those hydrogen cars, but found out there were none for sale, and no hydrogen filling stations around. Guess Chiptin did not check before he wrote. So I guess we better leave it up to Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid to save our ass.

where to buy American gas, read on down to see source of
Wal-Mart gas.
WHERE TO BUY AMERICAN GASOLINE. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT TO KNOW. READ ON.
Notice the bit on Wal-Mart gas! Very interesting!
Gas rationing in the 70's worked even though we grumbled about it. It
might even have been good for us!
Are you aware that the Saudis are boycotting American products?
Shouldn't we return the favor? Can't we take control of our own destiny
and let these giant oil importers know who REALLY generates their
profits, their livings? How about leaving American Dollars in America
and reduce the import/export deficit?
An appealing remedy might be to boycott their GAS. Every time you fill
up your car you can avoid putting more money into the coffers of Saudi
Arabia . Just purchase gas from companies that don't import their oil
from the Saudis.
Nothing is more frustrating than the feeling that every time I fill up
my tank, I'm sending my money to people who I get the impression want
me, my family and my friends dead. Don't you think it might be of
interest to know which oil companies import Middle Eastern oil and which
do not?
These companies import Middle Eastern oil:
Shell..................................... 205,742,000 barrels
Chevron/Texaco..................... 144,332,000 barrels
Exxon /Mobil......................... 130,082,000 barrels
Marathon/Speedway.............. 117,740,000 barrels
Amoco................................... 62,231,000 barrels
And CITGO oil is imported from Venezuela by Dictator Hugo Chavez who
hates America and openly avows our economic destruction! (We pay
Chavez's regime nearly $10 Billion per year in oil revenues!)
The U.S. currently imports 5,517,000 barrels of crude oil per day from
OPEC. If you do the math at $95 per barrel, that's over $524 million PER
DAY ($191 BILLION per year!) handed over to OPEC, many of whose members
are our confirmed enemies!!!!!
Here are some large companies that do not import Middle Eastern oil:
Sunoco.......................... 0 barrels
Conoco......................... 0 barrels
Sinclair........................ 0 barrels
BP / Phillips................. 0 barrels
Hess. ..................................................... 0 barrels
ARC0.............................................. 0 barrels
Maverick.......................... 0 barrels
Flying J. .............................................. 0 barrels
Valero............................. 0 barrels
I AM GOING TO ADD THE FOLLOWING...
Murphy Oil USA sold at Wal-Mart is from South Arkansas and owned USA
plus they give scholarships to all children in their town who finish
high school and are legal US citizens.
my brother sent this to me so I thought I would add it hope it helps
