I recently posted a blog where I tried to educate some people about the still present racism in this country. I was told that I was advocating hatred because I was speaking truthfully about our past in this country.

What I should have said was this. Martin Luther King, who most americans agree is a wonderful person and preacher. He preached about the injustices of his time, from the pulpit. He was not always a true follower of non-violence. He did not become a true non-violent protester until he met a gay, black, labor activist from New York. I think people need to understand the historical context of the things they bandy about.

But then, the first person who called me the 'n' word, came from a supposedly educated family. When her father called my mother, who I had not told, he said his daughter would not call me that name because his son played major league baseball. That is the type of argument I hear from people. We talk about the injustices of the past we are stirring hate. Is that how the 'noose' reappeared.

Yes, I KNOW that the noose never disappeared. If we do not teach our children what discrimination and racism does, we are damning them to repeat the mistakes of the past. Just check out this site on a regular basis and you will find that hate groups are on the rise. view link
