I just learned something disturbing about Eons.
If you click on a site to potentially boom it, you can go there and click on "See who Boomed this." And at the bottom there is another link, you can "Bust It."
There are your Boom Burglars Onetoejeff.
What bothers me about this is that you can see who boomed you, but not who busted you.
In our country we have something called due process and its where the defendant has the right to face and challenge their accuser.
Busting a blog or a profile without having to stand behind that bust is an easy out in a world and a country that has of late, promoted this kind of backstabbing underhanded yellow bellied activities for far too long.
This has caused me to leave other sites before, because the members were unwilling to own their crap, their mean-ness, their pettiness or even perfectly justifiable anger. Because to do that would > gasp < mean that they would have to own it, acknowledge it, and be a grown up and suffer the consequences of their actions or words.
I have to seriously think now whether or not I want to stay here. This is offensive to me, to the very core of my being.
This kind of monkey-flung-pooh-fest, where you never see the grubby paws that made the pitch is for the birds. I can go back to my other spaces, a little lonelier sure, but at least its honest.
If you have a problem with me or with anyone, you have the choice to not visit. You have the choice to make a comment and debate on the issue. But if you can only make yourself feel better with a fly-by-knife-in-the-back, well then my friend, you create the world you deserve.
This saddens me a lot.

What happens if you are busted?

Apparently if someone busts you, you lose a boom. They show who booms you, but they dont show who busts you or why. So you can just not like someone, or not like their religion, race, politics, whatever and bust them.

I could not have said that better.. Actually I could have said it a lot worse. You were polite to the point of kicking some ones ass if you went one step further.
What would be nice is if whoever the powers that be here should read this. I don't understand the point of the Bust..
That would be like getting out and voting not because you believed in the candidate you were voting for.. You just did not like the opponent of the one you voted for.. Part of the solution ? NO..
But you did it behind a curtain because that is your right. But that does not mean it was right.
What started out as humor brought more light to the room
Yeah whats wrong with the world... Wait Son , come here.. Wait until he gets a little closer to throw the rock. And be ready to run. OK ? OK Dad.
Thanks for getting involved my Friend. Some how I had a feeling you would follow through..
A mind has to know huh ? Jeffry

I am sure there are people on Eons that I would dislike vehemently. But you know I dont go looking for them. And I dont ever plan to use the Bust option simply because I disapprove of it due to ethical objection. If I make a comment on someone's blog or profile because I saw something I didnt like, it would be done honestly, respectfully, stating the facts, my position with supporting arguments with my username right there, my electronic-eons John Hancock.
Maybe you all remember him. He signed along with other founding fathers on a document criticizing the crown, ensuring a death warrant due to treason against King George III and the British Empire.
Say what you mean, mean what you say. Being able to own your words is part of the first step in creating a civil society.

I heard about this. And believe it or not, there are strange rangers running around doing this to our blogs and postings on a regular basis. Eons needs to get rid of this feature.

I noticed that all 6 booms are gone already and yet it still shows on the front page. Well I am not surprised that it happened in the dead of night. What's that, like wearing two bags over your head in case one falls off?
I mean you are already anonymous, so why wait til the witching hour?

I do agree with you on showing who busted something (I boomed this), but I must also admit that I have busted a blog, but the blogger is well aware of it because I made sure and left a comment on the blog as to why I was busting it. Some people seem to be targeting particular group messages, which is wrong. If you're going to bust something, there really should be a good reason for it.

Its 0941 in OKC and I currently have 3 booms. The Boom Burgler must been in bed.
Things that could entice me to reconsider my ban on busting: People who promote harmful, illegal activities such as: Terrorism, Hate Crimes, Pedophilia or other non-consensual acts of a sexual nature, hate speech, harmful psuedo medical advice...
Things would not consider busting people for: religious beliefs {even those I find offensive}, political beliefs {even if its for the wrong candidate or party} difficult dialogue about honest issues concerning race, religion, class, gender, etc that were posted without malice. Sexual orientation, or general naughtiness {even if it offends me}.
Why?
Because I am an adult. and I know there is room enough for everyone and their opinions. Dont fear others with opposing positions on anything, I only fear people who think censorship is a valid way to deal with others who hold a different view than their own. Especially those who claim to act in righteousness, because they will do terrible things under the mistaken notion that their status, their ideology makes them infallible, above the law and beyond reproach.
Yep, those are the crazies I fear.

I'll give you this OrangePOP, you are one of the reasons that I'm glad that Eons lowered the age restrictions here.
