Arrived in Hong Kong on Friday and have been visiting the local markets for all their bustling activity, went to a nearby island that had a village of houses on stilts, and have taken in the Art Museum and the nightly Laser Show projected from and against the beautiful skyline of Hong Kong. Most entrance fees are quite modest or free but the hard Rock Cafe wanted $20US for their signature hamburger!!! I left but others didn't!!??
Have joined up with my Overland Group of 6 others plus the local group leader. Off on the train to Guilin this afternoon for 18 days wending our way to Beijing.
Then off to Mongolia for another few weeks all ending the last week of July. The Chinese are very efficient and busy but no one gives me the slightest notice or smile. The only touts appear to be East Indians pushing watches and custom suits. But once you are out of the Nathan Road Tourist area, everybody leaves you alone.
Looking forward to the beautiful mountain landscape of Guilin, the boat ride on the river, the Terra Cotta Soldiers and Tienemann Square.
