I'm grateful this morning. I teach ESL kids and 2 random groups of 6 graders. The 6 graders passed our state standardized test by 90%, compared to about 75 or less % passing rate for the rest of the student body.
Also, a couple of my ESL kids passed exit level TAKs, so they can enjoy their senior years. Most of my students won't take TAKS until next year because they're brand new to the US.
Thank you, God!
I've learned a lot this year about teaching. I've been to AVID conferences and dyslexia training and have learned new tricks. (Old dogs can learn!) But I've also employed more behavioral and procedural strategies that create a learning environment.
