Hollywood loves road trips – don’t you?

From Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman to Joan Allen, Kathy Bates and Jessica Lange, Hollywood is going on a road trip!

With terror threats abroad, the dollar getting hammered, air travel becoming so difficult and the economy sliding, many vacationers with wanderlust are again looking at the US as a great travel bargain. And Hollywood producers are confirming that taking the all-American road trip is not only a great way to live out life dreams, like in "The Bucket List", but a great way take off with friends for the time of your life, like the girlfriends in "Bonneville.”

Our road trip story

My husband Phil and I already did our part of a "Bucket List", when we took off and traveled the US for an entire year, then wrote a book to help others do the same. Our publisher, RLI Press, has just released the second edition of our award-winning book, Live Your Road Trip Dream with updated information on budgets, websites and technology, and new sections for the younger crowd. The book is a must-have planning tool to plan "Bucket List" trips, or to head out with girlfriends ala "Bonneville!"

I met CommunityGal and Suzy at the AARP Life@50+ conference last year in Boston and I immediately became an Eons member, actively checking out the RV groups. I think Eons is awesome and I’ve always hoped we could get more involved at Eons so together, CG and I have cooked up a little contest for you!

Share your road trip story contest

“Tell Your Road Trip Story” is a writing contest to be held in the Travel US group view link. Here’s how it goes:

Write a 200-300 word story about a road trip you took to a US National Park. Here’s the link if you want to check to see if your park is a national one view link

It can be funny, sad, memorable, whatever! But give us a good idea about what made your road trip special.

The Grand Prize winner will receive a one year National Parks Pass, a copy of Live Your Road Trip Dream, and a one year subscription to MyTripJournal.com and some Eons swag.

The second place winner will receive a Live Your Road Trip Dream Traveler’s Gift Pack and some Eons swag.

One runner up will receive some Eons swag.
