Tomato plants
My wife loves BLTs, and nothing makes a better BLT than homegrown tomatoes. Since I'm a vegetarian, I still enjoy LT sandwiches.
We all know that you can't buy great-tasting tomatoes at the supermarket on a regular basis. Occasionally, a supermarket will sell local produce, but for the most part, the tomatoes you find are genetically engineered to have a long shelf life. In other words, a tomato that is thick-skinned and tasteless.
I purchased some topsoil and potting soil for my plants since much of my yard seems to be clay. I bought eight plants, hoping that at least half of them will survive.
By July, I hope to find some big, juicy tomatoes hanging off the plants. I'll keep you posted on how my plants progress during the coming weeks.
