When Disaster Calls
Earthquakes, cyclones, tornadoes and floods; so much devastation. As I watch the news I cry. The tears come whether it's from China, Myamar, fires in Florida, tornado's in the south or floods on the east coast; whether it children dying in drive-by's, people being stabbed to death because of road rage, or children killed by perverts.
How can we not but sorrowfully pray as we see the hurt of our brothers and sisters all over the world? Like it or not, agree or not with differences of belief's, various hues of color, whether they serve my God or yours; these are people who hurt.
I cannot believe that a government is so wicked that they either will not let, or limit incoming help to their own people. We in America are so blessed, that help is available. No, I haven't forgotten Katrina. And that a Katrina can happen her should be enough to open our eyes as to what our own government has come to.
It does not take an Einstein to see that we need change. Not all politicians are bad, they are folks like you and me, with families and loved ones who may, one day, be on the same suffering end as all of us. It is our responsibility to break the mold that has made a Katrina possible, it is our responsibility to change the politics so that another unnecessary Iraq does not happen again. We don't need rogue leaders. We do need leaders who can work together for the people, for the country.
I don't think America will be exempt from horrible natural disasters. But I do believe it's important that our hearts be prepared to help each other before a disaster like Katrina, 911, or the Oklahoma bombing, or a Watts strikes again. All the division we have, its so sad. One Nation Under God – Indivisible (together, mended as one)....
My blood is 'A' Negative. I wonder who is out there that has the same, and what color do you have on top of the vessels? Would you accept my blood, I would yours. Do our differences really matter when we need this life saving gift? If not, WHY, WHY should we be so separated, even hateful toward each other in some cases?

Beautifully written, Jay! And so true. I think hate is the "ugly stepchild" of fear: we tend to be afraid of that which we do not know or understand. You are black, I am white but I consider you my friend, and sister. I would give you my blood, a kidney, whatever you need so you can go on making a positive contribution to this world. And I would gladly, gratefully accept the same from you. Big changes happen one person at a time, I am thankful to have you in my world, making changes for the benefit of all of us!
Blessings, Judy

You always say things to really make us stop and think. I agree with you wholeheartedly. We all need to get back to prayers in school, correcting our children without the fear of being accused of child abuse and I am not talking about beating either. There is a correct way and a wrong way.
I think that we need to stop loving each other as we love ourselves and believe there are alot of people out there that really love themselves. The color of our skins should not make a difference but I know there aer people out there that still hate someone because of the color of their skins, which religion they have even if they have more than someone else has. You make very good points and yes I would accept your blood and hope that you would accept mine if needed. I love and respect everyone, that is till they prove me wrong.
Yes, we need all new people in government or atleast that is what I think. I also think that sometimes that go into office really believing they can make a difference and sometimes they do and then sometimes they too turn corrupt. We all need to put God back into our country, into our hearts, schools and into our lives. Sorry this is so long but I got started and could not stop.
