I've been using aluminum foil for more years than I care to remember.Great stuff, but sometimes it can be a pian. You know, like when you are in the middle of doing something and you try to pull some foil out and the roll comes out of the box. Then you have to put the roll back in the box and start over. The darn roll always comes out at the wrong time.
Well,I would like to share this with you.Yesterday I went to throw out an empty foil box and for some reason I turned it and looked at the end of the box,and written on the end it said,Press here to lock roll.Right there on the end of the box is a tab to lock the roll in place.Who knew ? How long has the little locking tab been there ? I then looked at a generic brand foil box and it had one too.I then looked at a box of Saran wrap and it had one too ! I can't count the number of times the Saran wrap roll has jumped out when I was trying to cover something up.
I'm sharing this with my friends who didn't know this.I hope I'm not the only person that didn't know about this.
I immediately went and pushed in all my tabs...haha.

did you also know that on a cardboard carton of milk, there is a "right" side to open?
Even if you can't see, you can find it by feeling for the bend lines on one end.

I too, like you, had the same problem. After I read your post I went to the drawer and took out all the tin foil and saran wrap. Sure enough, the tabs were there. Wax paper does not have them. I also found my favorite. knife, that I had lost a week ago and look everywhere for under the boxes. So a double thanks to you from me.

OMG this is really a good post and I thank you for it. I immediately went to the cabinet where I store my paper goods SURE ENOUGH there on the box instructions.......which only goes to show you that it pays to read instructions before using a product. I can't tell you the times that I have messed up because I was in too much of a hurry to use something and I assumed I knew what I was doing - Who needs stupid instructions??? LOL Thanks for posting this!

Wow, what a great discovery! Even the Wal-Mart brand has the little tabs. I'm telling all my friends, relatives and possibly even some enemies. :-)

Here is the reply I got from Reynolds Inc. They should advertise this in all their commercials..
Dear Sheila:
Thank you for your inquiry regarding Reynolds Wrap® Aluminum Foil.
In our continuing efforts to meet the needs of our consumers, our cartons have end locks to hold the rolls in place. This feature was added in 1996. Press in the perforated tabs on each end of the carton before your first use.
Please let us know if we can be of further assistance.
