Well, I took the plunge. I will retire at the end of June 2008. Fortunately I have been practising to live within the confines of SS funds for the last 4 years, so I am pretty much prepared for the transition. I have decided to continue working on a part time basis, 16 hours a week or less, just to keep in touch with reality and my work friends. I am excited about this, and do not just count the days left, but also the hours! The first thing I will do on my first retirement day is to fly to Atlanta, jump in the car with my middle son, and drive to Michigan, where he will be married the following week. This is my last week with him alone, and we will be fishing, camping and golfing. Might have a couple drinks also.

Congrats! I retired completly and love it. Always had a job doing something since High School. Three part time jobs a day, for a while. Independent and working my butt off for 33 years and this new life style is wonderful.
