I am not a victim but a survivor of Fibromyalgia. There are approximately 9 Million people diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. Of those 20% are men.
There is no simple test available for diagnosis. Evaluation by a skilled medical professional, usually a rheumatologist, consists of ruling out other medical conditions with similar symptoms, such as rheumatoid arthritis, polymyalgia rheumatica, Lyme disease and lupus. The physician should take an extensive medical history followed by a physical examination that includes the application of pressure to specific anatomical points known to be particularly sensitive in sufferers.
There is no known cure..
My own thoughts on Fibromyalgia:
1. I save money on magazines. With brain fog I can't remember what I've just read.
2. On good days I feel wonderful; other people need a much better day to feel that good.
3. I'm easy to find; I'm at home or the doctors' office.
4. I never have to make my bed; I'll be back in it my the afternoon.
5. I have acquired a great lounging/sleeping wardrobe; I rarely get dressed.
6. I feel smarter than my doctors; all they say is "I don't know"

I went to see a rheumatalogist recently. She feels like I have fibromyaglia. I also have symtoms for lupus but, she is not sure of Lupus. I have been told I have chronic fatigue. I have been tired since forever. My heart is been acting up. I have been to a cardiologist. Is it me or not all Dr's really deserve their degree?? I found out that Lupus affects the heart. I also signed up for a fibro center but,,,,,, It cost $399. just walking in . If I go ($) then it may cost me about $1,000.00 for the day,

Talk about describing our life you hit the nail on the head. I still get my magazines and why I do not know as I never read them because like you said, 2 seconds after I read it I have no idea what I just read or if I even read at all. I usually stay in the house because I am afraid to drive alot of the days because I am in a fog and confussed about where I was going or how to get there so I feel it is a danger for me to drive therefore I usually wear the loungers. I really need to buy me a few more of them now that I am thinking about it but shoot by tomorrow I will forget I even wrote this or read your blog,LOL.

Funny but so true. You have to have a sense of humor to get through the days and nights when you have Fibromyalgia.
