I hate Spammers just as much as the next gal. But, more and more, I am not too crazy about the Chicken Little approach that some folks have adopted when they are trying to be "helpful" by outting suspected Spam creeps. By this, I mean people that arbitrarily post spam warning messages, naming the supposed offender, but give no proof of spamming done. Why does that just seem WRONG to me? No one should be accused negatively of something publicly, without proof. Forgive me, but I never saw the Eons memo asking members to perform this task, in such a manner.
Even if every single post claiming SPAMMER were true, isn't there already a correct way to resolve the matter, without branding a big red "S" on someone's forehead? YUP! ... it's called NOTIFYING EONS directly by clicking on the "Contact Help Team" link, which can be found in the lower right corner of every page on Eons. I know that many of us have been a bit disappointed by the lack of expediency in which some help requests are handled. However, every reported instance of true spamming that I have seen here, seems to be handled quickly and smoothly by the staff.
Individual groups all handle their Spam Alerts in their own domain. Most designate ONE THREAD for courtesy FYI notices to their members of the group. But, even still, someone will think that their "spam find" merits it's own front page message. Why? Why even post ANY spam alerts? If it is REALLY spam, posting an alert is not going to stop anyone from receiving the spam, if they are targeted.
So, if any Eons member suspects a SPAMMER - be it thru a message on a group thread, a comment on a profile, a friend invite, a gift given, or a Private Message...
1 - Do a little of your own research first, by looking at the suspicious member's profile for clues of spamming. Belonging to numerous groups and posting the same message in every one of them, touting some website or product, is the best proof.
2 - CONTACT EONS directly, thru' the Contact Help Team link, giving as much detail as possible on why you think it is spam.
Public spam alerts, with or without proof, are not really neccessary.

Who said we should oust who we feel is doing something wrong? To say I don't like their name, or it appears to me that so and so is a spammer, why do we have to go public with this?
There is the correct way, and that is in contacting Eons and letting them handle it. Not to accuse the new member in public, especially if you could be wrong in your assumption.
Someone said, we want to be able to let every manager know what is going on and to be on the look out in their own groups. For crying out loud, it is a spammer, posting about a dating site, not someone going to take the group down. If you are a manager or moderator of the group delete the person and notify Eons, don't get all "high and mighty" about the issue.
Let us relax, enjoy eons, and stop the finger pointing.

A couple of weeks ago a man wrote me a friend invitation which included a rather amazing description(S) of S&M he thought I'd like to do. The 1st thing I did was decline then I went to the help desk and reported it. Then I viewed his profile. Wow, he certainly was single-minded! I got the normal "we received your message" e-mail, then another one giving me options. Within 3 days he was no longer on Eons. Eons is well prepared to deal with that kind of problem and with scammers. Naming names is totally non-productive, and could be damaging someone who doesn't deserve it. By doing so you just might be doing exactly what the spammer wants.
