What is it about NASCAR? You either love it or hate it. There may not be a middle ground. I became hooked about two or three years ago. I rarely miss a race now. What is that draws us to racing? Is it the power? The speed? Watching the crashes? The drivers and their personalities?

I share your love of racing. My interest started when I met my husband who was photographing races for magazines and I started tagging along. It only took a few races and I was hooked. Over the years I gravitated more to open wheel racing and eventually fell in love with Formula 1. We watch the practice sessions on Friday, qualifying on Saturday and the race on Sunday. Since most of them are run on other continents and televised long before we get up, we record them and watch at our leisure, which is great because we can rewind and re-watch anything of interest. My reasons for preferring F-1 are the tracks they run on which are usually several miles long with many twists and turns and challenges that other types of racing don’t offer. Also, the drivers are considered to be ranked among the top highly conditioned athletes, which is probably due to the type of training necessary to be able to endure the high G force they encounter in the turns and as they are whipped from left to right in the chicanes.
To answer your question, I think it’s a little of everything you mentioned. Whatever style of auto racing you prefer, when you feel that rush when you hear the roar of the engines start up, you know you’re hooked!

It is all of it. Have you ever been to one? The sound, the excitement, the smell of exhaust and burning rubber as well as the drivers. Oh and don't forget the partying :^)
