Often life is so very difficult. There are truly people in our lives that we truly love, yet their views, their injuries to us, reach the point that in order to survive me must choose a different road. Both parties are hurt, but for one it's survival.
I had to do some of this in my own life with my Dad, whom I loved, but whose alcoholism was destroying me, but I never quit loving, or remembering the good parts.
Thankfully, we came back together at the end. He was old and sick , and had to go to nursing home. We both seemed to foget the bad, and were just there for each other.
I think this is what Senator Obama and the Rev. Wright have gone through these past few weeks, is so sad, but perhaps they both shall find their peace along the way.
They are two generations clashing, rather than merging. I will Say that Senator Obama showed great class in giving Rev. Wright the benefit of the doubt as long as he could. I honor him for that. I also honor the history of Rev. Wright, and the fact that it was different than of his church member.
May they both teach us that which we need to learn. This is not about "race", but about experiences that we've had, honoring ours and those of others, yet moving forward. Peace to them both. I think Senator Obama is an honorable man, with a broken heart, as is Rev. Wright. May we help them both to heal by healing our own hearts and our country.
Distancing yourself for those you love.
