I haven't had much time to write a blog entry. I have been busy with my personal life but, even more, I have busy being involved in Freedom Matters.
After being booted out of freedom of speech I started a group called 'Freedom Matters' so that folks could have a place to go and talk without fear of getting ganged up on and raked over the coals for expressing their thoughts. In less than a month I am happy to say we have about 70 members.
I wanted a diverse group so I asked a wonderful lady who has a strong faith in God, an other beautiful soul who is a member of Wicca who has been a practicing Witch for over 20 years and a dynamic and equally intelligent man who is an agnostic to help me manage our group. I think that gave us a firm foundation for diversity being allowed.
We talk about so many things in Freedom Matters. The most intense discussions seem to revolve around politics and religion. I figure that is because of the upcoming election. The wonderful thing, though, is that all points of view are appreciated and not discounted without applied thought. We each speak our piece and at the end of the day we hug and tell each other we are glad we are together. We care about each other.
We get some great threads going that keep us on our toes and keep us laughing, too. I like them a lot. I like the ones that make me think...that offer me a way to see things that could change my way of thinking. I love to learn and am old enough to know that learning involves changing my mind about the way I think about things sometimes. My favorite post, thread, today was one MsTick posted. It is called 'Is There an Ultimate Freedom?' and it has a link that tells the story about a man named Jeffry Sawyer. Mr. Sawyer gave up all his worldly possessions and began walking to find out what freedom really is. His story is amazing if you like to read.
If you get a spare minute or two I encourage and sincerely invite you to visit, and perhaps to join, our special group. We really are like a huge family at a never ending reunion. We talk about everything. There are always laughs, opposing points of view, things to ponder, reasons given for a possible change of thought and at the end we hug and care about each other.
