Too many hands out for your charitable dollar? Me too, I want to climb under the bed and declare myself my only charity. Can't really do that but am limiting my giving to this country at the moment.
My favorite charity, Aliah Sweet Fragile Hearts Foundation, is having their fifth annual Tennis Tournament at The Newport Beach Tennis Club with a fabulous Music Jam the night before. Fragile Hearts supports the siblings of terminally ill or disabled kids. It is a great charity, no paid staff, all volunteers and it really makes a difference in the lives of the recipients.
I know because I met and love the founders, Joe and Storme' Sweet who along with their talented daughter, Ariel, formed this charity in memory of their son, Aliah Sweet. Think of this as Make A Wish for Families.
Please go or pass on this information to your friends and family in California. Think about it this way, when there is a sick child in the family, most of the attention and the resources go that way. Siblings often and out of necessity, are often left to deal with their emotions and their intense concerns on their own. The illness of one can strain relations, cash flow and interactions of the whole family. Fragile Hearts recognize this and often provide a gift that can be used by the whole family. Sure, there often is a Disney Land package, a computer or something tangible. There is much more in the recognition of the siblings that someone really understands and is paying attention to them. Just as an aside, many of these siblings go in to some form of medicine later on in life. All of this is done with only volunteers and donated materials.
Certainly not the most important thing, but because it is California, lots of stars and industry people turn up. You could call it networking, I call it a good cause.
Thanks for passing this on, attending or even donating. Today, I am asking for your attendance at one of the events.
