TROOP SUPPORT/ WAR SUPPORT
Troop Support and War Support are often treated as being one and the same. This is far from the truth.
I am not a supporter of the war in Iraq but I strongly support the troops.
1. I support our having a strong, prepared , trained, military ready to serve and protect us.
2. I believe the use of the military should be carefully and wisely decided based on truth and need.
3. I am a strong supporter of our soldiers having all the body armor available.
4. I want our troops, when in action ,to have the numbers and equipment needed to do their job.
5. When soldiers have served for a period of time and have the time to come home to be with family it should be on our dollar. Also, their return during deployment.
6. There should be sufficient troops to bring those that have been in action home in a rotation that will nurture physical and mental health.
7. We should have a system and the technology in place to insure that soldiers leaving service are automatically in the data base for whatever services they are due without having to do tons of paper work and dealing with red tape.
8. It should be possible for all soldiers who serve to take advantage of an education plan without paying for it I believe now it is a cost of $1,000. within the first 3 months of signing on as a soldier).
9. When it is clear to all of us that members of our returned military are suffering from an adverse reaction to a vacination or some other military experience, we should accept it and do what can be done for them. Would this be expensive? Of course it would!!! War is expensive! We know that going in. We have a moral obligation to follow through. Singing the praises of our soldiers is shallow and meaningless without following through on our moral obligation.
I believe that I and many other progressives are the ones who really have our soldiers' backs.
I don't support the war but I care about those who have been sent into harms way for the sake of OIL.
