one of my passions
I recently found an new yarn shop that was doing a project for our local hospice. They provided the yarn and the finished lap-gans (small afghans for folks in wheelchairs) were donated. This shop. Wolly Bully (http://www.myspace.com/woolybullycrafts) has projects like this all year.
Perfect! I can crotchet to my hearts content and have someone who will appreciate the product. Just think how much help we could be if we all (CRAFTERS UNITE) donated just one project a year to charity. You know as well as I do that we "make things" for the love of doing it, not the finished product. Donations could be for direct use or sell-able items with the money going to your favorite charity. Personally I like giving something someone can use. I know I put a lot of love into the things I make and I believe the person receiving it can feel that love.
I love to do all sorts of crafts and am always looking for something new to learn. While at Wolly Bully I was introduced to felting. How to make felt from natural fibers in both wet and dry techniques, as well as needle felting. Now I can't wait to try it. I'll let you know how it goes.
