"The Ladybug Princess", a fairytale storybook. Illustrations by Richard Schuyler.

I wrote this story in honor of my little granddaughter, who I have always referred to as my "ladybug princess." Projected publication date late fall 2008. If you would like more information about the book, feel free to PM me.

This book is more than just a simple story meant to delight the young child. Parents and educators alike will appreciate the wealth of learning opportunities intrinsically present within the story. Children can be introduced to many valuable ideas, concepts and lessons, simply by virtue of the parent or educator reading the story along with them, and asking questions of the child as the story progresses. The book begins by introducing the child to the idea of observing and appreciating the beauty and bounty of nature, then segues into a show of compassion for a creature in need. The main character demonstrates the concept of critical and creative thinking, as she strives to find a solution to the problem she is faced with. Bravery is shown by her willingness to approach the spider web in order to rescue the ladybug, and insight by her knowledge that the ladybug must be deposited in safe place, once rescued. Reward for a good deed done is the lesson taught by the ladybugs' show of gratitude and appreciation, and a lasting friendship is born.

Instilling in a child a love for reading is a priceless gift. If we provide them with reading material that is educational as well as entertaining, they take the first step towards success in life.
