Wow, I can't believe how long it's been since my last blog. The weather has changed significantly in the last couple of weeks. We are really on the verge of spring. Temps have been inching into the 70's and that means great hiking weather!
This weekend we are planning a couple of hikes into Red Rock National Park. I am really looking forward to it. I hope it has been warm enough for the cactus to be in bloom. I was not here last spring so I'm really looking forward to seeing the desert in bloom. Hopefully, I will have some new pics to download onto my site from the hike.
Last week I went to Scottsdale, AZ with friends for a couple of days. What an interesting trip. The drive through the desert was spectacular. Upon our arrival in Scottsdale, we toured a fine arts show. This event occurs every year from Jan. to March and features many wonderful artists. Then we toured a desert cactus garden. On the way back to Las Vegas, we decided to go an alternate route through Flagstaff, AZ. Normally, this would have been a beautiful route, but this time we hit a near white-out snowstorm for almost 60 miles. We slowly made our way back to Las Vegas keeping close to the trucker's treadmarks in the snow that accumulated with each passing mile. It was quite an adventure.
I can't wait until the hike this weekend. A beautiful adventure awaits in the desert.
