Meet Jack Veasey

I wanted to have a central space at Eons where I can post my creative work, or links to my creative work, and information about it. Many of you know me as Ponytail, manager of several groups here. I'm also a poet, a singer, and writer who has had something of a career in those three areas, yet few of my many friends here know that side of me. I spend a lot of time here, and wanted to share that aspect of myself here, too.

Haiku & Senryu

I love to write in the 17-syllable Japanese poetry forms, haiku and senryu. Here are some examples from my other current chapbook, "5-7-5."

Poems From Photographs

I often use black and white photos posted on Flickr as a starting point to get me writing. I'll imagine the circumstances and perspective of the people in the photo -- or a photo will just trigger a particular memory or emotion for me, and I'll write from that. These are all free verse poems that started that way for me. Like most contemporary poets, I write more in free verse than I do in forms.

This is a 10-page e-book that, at the moment, can only be found here.

Fiction

This is something new for me. I posted my story "Psych Ward, Full Moon" in the files at my group Midnight Movies. From the type of group it is, and the story title, you can probably guess the subject matter.

Information

In case anybody's curious to know some background, the PA Center For The Book at Penn State University has posted a biography of me. It needs to be updated, but there's a fair amount of information in it.
