Look!
She dances, dances, d a n c e s
Her lithe body with her hands lying lightly on an insubstantial partner
Glides, whirls, traipses nimbly across the elegant ballroom floor
Her feet seeming to float
Her svelte arms and legs are a perfection of agility
Her eyes sparkle with filigees of light
The luminescent air perfumed with the hint of roses
Gidddy, the violins rhapsodize a Strauss waltz
And shimmer in a world of pure sound and eternity
The vision of the lady tantalizes the senses:
To see her, to hear her hum to the tune, to touch the shadows
Cast by chandeliers like streams of moonlight through the silk curtains
Yes, she waltzes poetically
Alone, it seems, but for the ghost
And the hint of romance which fills the room with leaves whispering in a breeze
It is tantalizing, palpable
Speak of grace when you watch her dance faster andfasterandfaster
As the music escapes its sphere
Speak of love pervading a heart made larger by a living dream
Speak of charity as she gives to those who watch and feel
A goddess gift of magnificence
Speak of God as no one but he dances heartfully with her
The sound, the glooooow, the smell, the sight reel in ecstacy of joy
She goes on forever blithely touching the air with resliency and delicacy
Oh, suddenly the curtain falls and the musics eases to an end
Look!
She is gone, gone
The light, color, movement, music have all disappeared
Where, where?
Ah,
The trick has been played
Mischief has won the game
And through my child eyes
Through my magic mist
I remarkably know the ghostly artist and lover
Whose deft fingers poised her like a Grecian statue in beauteous motion
Her yearning is mine
You may say I speak too profusely
But how else does a child speak?
