This is a copy of another blog and comments on Eons. After I made my comment on this public blog I got a PM from the author which I politely answered and and yet another one after that - now I am being accused of harassment - methinks something stinks lol.

" I made a decision today to support Jeff Taylor's vision for the New Eons.

I left my written comment for him on his front page story, just like many of you. I am a positive person, I am progressive and I always go for the optimistic approach. I do believe that teenagers' of any age should be restricted from this site. Having said that, I deeply feel that this is an opportunity for all of us to move forward in a positive direction, we will continue to meet people that we adore and admire and many that we don't accept. Age to me makes no difference. I am always cautious with who I hang out with and this caution will never change. I think that the majority of people today have taken on a battle that they simply cannot win. If you don't like it, leave !

I received a comment from an Eons member this evening , "Hippiemommaida" , whom I have never met. She said to me in this private comment to my profile, " I Just want you to know that you are the only one, you are the only one that thinks that way "!

I swiftly sent a message back telling her that I walk very well in my skin.. I hold my head up high, I am proud of my decisions and I do not pass judgement on any one or their opinions.

How dare this member contact me with a negative , hateful manner. She does not know me, nor I her. Don't walk into my world and attempt to harrass or abuse me, I am a highly responsible and respected individual. And no HIPPIEMOMMAIDA, I am not " The ONLY ONE" with this reaction or belief today. Skim through all the comments on the front page. There are others and while we may be in a minority, it is our belief and you nor anyone else has a right to throw your weight around my belief's. You sound like a bully to me and because of your actions, I have decided to put you up there on the front page, for Jeff Taylor and the entire Community to see what type of individual you are. And you are worried about younger people on this site, you've got to be kidding me lady !

How very ironic. I know for truth hat you are NOT the only one who is supportive of the change...the Manager of one of the groups that I belong to has been very articulate about her support.
My stance is typical of me...I want to just chill and see how this thing shakes out. But at the same time, I want to be prepared for possible changes. I am very much a "plan ahead" person and so have taken some steps to be more cautious than I have in the past...probably should have done that long ago.
Because I joined Eons primarily for the adult community it afforded I am disappointed in the changes that have taken place. I suspect the motivation is financial and may be a "last resort" move. More than anything, however, I am disappointed in the way the change was handled. It does not seem respectful to members to make the change and then announce it indirectly before making a formal announcement.
One thing that I am NOT disappointed in is the thoughtful, reasoned response that my friends have made to this change...whether they favor it or not.

Regarding EONS' decision, it is theirs to make. Who is Jeff Taylor, by the way? Never heard of him! If he is the CEO of EONS, one would think that sending a mass e-mail or PM to all EONS members PRIOR TO effecting such a radical change in corporate policy would have been at the top of Taylor's priority list. Obviously growing membership while ignoring current members is at the top of Taylor's priority list!

I am with NoHiddenMeaning when she infers in her reply to your blog that rollout of the change in EONS policy was "disappointing," at best. NohiddenMeaning is tactful as I have always known her to be, since I say that the EONS rollout was the most pathetic corporate public relations strategy I have ever seen in my life! EONS ought to be looking for a new Vice President of Public Relations, or Community Relations, or Marketing, or whatever they dub their marketing and member relations business units. What an insult to the intelligence of every member! Then, to have the gall to state that only a "small group" of members is opposed to the change in policy is clearly dismissive of EONS' loyal membership. Does anyone at EONS corporate and/or Jeff Taylor really believe that job-hopping youngsters will be loyal to EONS when they are not even loyal to anyone and/or anything in our society? Now that would be some "California dreaming" on EONS executives' part if they really believe that younger adults will be more loyal to the EONS emerging brand!

I have plenty of places in which to interact with younger folks when I am so inclined. My original attraction to EONS was purely the 49 and older marketing and concept on the heels of My Space membership which I could only tolerate for precisely 4.5 days before I quit My Space.

Has EONS done any member surveys? Maybe you have received one, but I have never, Cheffie. The lame mantra that anyone can lie about age to join EONS needs to remain an argument to be made among the realm of members who favor the change; not EONS. It was pretty lame of EONS to blurt out the lame mantra as part and parcel of the informal rollout that EONS' policy had changed.

As a corporate entity, surely EONS executives are old enough to just say, "We did this and this is the way it will be from now on; too bad, so sad." Give me candor any day! This whole corporate fisaco has taught me that honesty is still the best policy, corporate executives included.

No one likes to be played for a fool. Good for you for speaking your mind and holding your ground, Cheffie! With the exception of the topic of this blog, you and I are always on the same page.

I say EONS simply blew it. BIG time!

EONS loses even if they win is how I see it. Gain a lot of money, ok. Alienate a segment of one's market that could have been spoken to quite easily as mature adults? Not a smart career move, Cheffie! EONS is most fortunate to have you on their side. EONS needs all the good people they can hold onto, so do stick with them because for however much longer I remain with this site, my cheering EONS on days are over.
Sure hope EONS corporate staff is prepared to entertain a younger generation that suffers from social ADD!!! I would think the younger generation will find the lack of competing distractions on EONS B-O-R-I-NG!!!! Great blog, Cheffie! KulBreeze

I am fortunate that I have belonged to groups that got along pretty well and so my feelings up to this point for eons have been very positive. I have tried to add to their success when asked.

However - this topic has polarized people to either have to admit they like the 50+ restriction and to be called "anti-change/anti-younger people" or to just accept the fact that eons is a corporation and will do whatever they want to do and we have to take it because we don't pay anything to be here. True but it doesn't make me feel good.

The one thing that bothers me more than anything else - is the fact that eons management has not apologized about their lack of communication about the change until it happened. I am a mediator and that should have happened in the post from Jeff. I met the man personally in Casa Grande and he is a smart guy. He must know by now that he could have handled this better and say so.

But, there are other members (not you) who are in love with eons, pretending to take the high road but in a condescending way -- looking at anyone who disagrees with opening the membership to everyone (but adolescents) as "old geezers, old farts, old yada, yada..." I have actually seen this in print today.

A fine mess they got us into this time, Ollie!!
