Isaacs Hotel in Cork

We are here because of shared memories of an era, and because we want to make friends and hear ideas from people who share our knowledge and experiences of times past, share the same frame of reference, as it were. We share information about matters pertaining to our age group, and teenagers have no reason to be here except perhaps curiosity. It could also open us up to sexual preditors and those who prey on and run scams on vulnerable people. I would hate to see a child come into some of the adult sites on here that I wouldn't even go into, and I'm very open-minded.
This change is hated and unwanted, and a betrayal to all of us who signed up because it was a site specifically for seniors.
The administration has done to us what all administrations seem to do, which is to make us consider buying stock in Vasoline.
I think we've been thrown under the bus. We'll just have to wait and see how this shakes out, but if it changes dramatically and we lose the tone that has been set here, I'm gone. If it turns out to be much ado about nothing, then let the youngsters have their say, and maybe we can guide them enough to keep them safe.
I don't think the kids will be that much of a problem; they're not going to want to hang with a bunch of "elderly" people, and this site isn't techie enough for them anyway. I enjoy decorating my MySpace, changing it for different seasons and moods. We don't have that capability here, and that part of it is rather boring to me, so I know the young people won't like it much. The only thing I do on MySpace is to get music and videos and keep in touch with friends at home. Yes, most of them are my son's age because they are friends of his, and my stepchildren; kids that have had their feet under my table and I've known for years, and the grands. I love kids, and enjoy their livliness and bright intelligence, even when they are saying something so dumb a parent questions their sanity. I've never even gone into a group there on Myspace. This is the site I spend free time on, and enjoy so much because of the people here. Eons handled this change badly. We've been disrespected and our opinions and efforts to maintain this as a viable site for seniors has been ignored. Having said that, I'm hoping for the best, in spite of all the angst and meanness I've seen all over the place.
We already have some of our own homegrown crackpots and naysayers, we don't need more negativity. On that note, I ask that you don't attack those few who disagree with the majority. They have their place here and have a right to be heard too. Let us be the kinder, gentler nation.
Since I have amended a bit and added to this blog, any of you who no longer agree with what I have stated and have posted comments here are free to PM me and ask to have their comment removed. I will be happy to honor that request; I am ever fair in my dealings with people. Wouldn't it be lovely if everybody else was????

Namaste all, and bright blessings.
