Last night I went to the DIFFA Dining by Design Event, and that was great fun. DIFFA stands for The Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS and they recently observed their 20th year as one of the largest funders of HIV/AIDS service and education programs in the U.S. DIFFA has mobilized the immense resources of the design communities to provide over $35 million to hundreds of AIDS organizations nationwide. Their big, unique event showcases the personal passions of some of the world's leading design talents. Each participant creates a unique dining environment. As long as their creation can accommodate ten for dinner, the sky's the limit. The designers put together these environments, these different like dining rooms and the tables are amazing! And then we come and have this lovely dinner, and it was an amazing event, an enormous amount of talent and great fun!
At one point, my friends decided that I should go on the dance floor. And you know I haven’t thought about dancing for the longest time, but this guy obviously was a professional, in fact some special ice skater or something. And he knew exactly what to do with me, even in my high heels! And I suddenly realized this big smile came on my face, and I’m just dancing, spinning, double, triple turns, I’m being thrown backwards, forwards all over the place, not falling, not missing steps for once, and I’m not even a ballroom dancer!
And I don’t know who I thought I was, but I think all of a sudden I became the three year old that fell in love with dancing all over again. And I realized what joy there was in dancing, and how of all the things I do in my life, this was one element in my life that I forgot to do for a really long time. And it reminded me that even though I thought gosh, you know I ought to work out more or maybe my back aches, or maybe I should be careful with my knees, my ankles, goodness knows what, I’m too old for this game. I wasn’t careful actually, and I have no ill effects today, and I don’t know what it was, but I think the freedom of movement was just great for me! I did backbends. I did double and triple spins. I felt like I was a great ballroom dancer! The best part of it was that I was simply feeling elated. Let’s feel more of that!

Dancing is not only good for the body, it's great for the soul. The freedom of movement, the rhythm of the music, the ability to forget all except the dancing--whew! I'm ready for a dance right now.
Thanks for an interesting entry AND a reminder that we NEED to dance--for our health of mind, body, and spirit. Have a great dance!!!
