I saw this video posted by an eons member under a thread community gal had written in the advisors group about changes in Eons policies effective today that anyone from 13 on can become a member. Many of us are angry and rightfully so! We are feeling betrayed and rightfully so! I loved this video and thanks to Prismebh for originally posting it. When I saw it I knew I had to do a special blog post just for this. I've never done a blog like this before. I am mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore. I'm going to post this, hopefully get everyone I can to view it and boom it, if nothing else so that our anger can be heard a thousand fold!! Are you out there all with me?!!!! Then boom this! And shout your anger with me! Let your voice be heard!!! You'll be surprised what thousands of voices can sound like to someone who has just knowingly betrayed them.
C'mon everybody!!! "I'm mad as hell and I'm not gonna take it anymore!!!!
Why is it that almost everything is directed toward teens. I wasn't aware there were that many things to buy at Eons to support a web site for those over 50 to now become a site for teens. Unbelieveable!!!
I am mad as hell also..... I am with the TN group and I joined this group because of the age limit..... I say we start our own group since they opened this one up..... WHY do kids need another group they already have a ton to post in????
I guess it meant more money in someones pocket....
"We're not goin' to take it anymore!" Where O where can I speak my mind, safely, securely and without retribution???!!! Please do not open up this eons to youngsters below 50!!
I am disappointed by the change. I am a new member and the attraction was the site being for those over 50. A shame that another good idea has gone down the tube.
I'M MAD, YES,but even worse, hurt at this blatent betrayal of us seniors by Eons. I'm not sure yet just WHAT I'm going to do about it, but I no longer feel safe posting my thoughts and feelings here, not to mention photos of my precious grandkids. By opening this site to kids, Eons has also opened it to those who prey on them. This isn't what any of us came here for. This whole society is full of terrible insecurity, they could have at least left us one haven where we could be ourselves without any kids poking and making fun of their elders. I know it all comes down to that almighty dollar, and that opening this site to kids will attract advertizers to that age group. I know that it will probably make the owners of this site richer than Midas himself, but is there no honor left in you? I know what my parents would've thought of me if I had betrayed THEM like this, I wonder how theirs feel.
I’m mad as hell also. Why does EONS need more money? I’d bail out now but I’d miss all my friends on EONS. Maybe someone can start a new service that lets us older folks keep to ourselfs.
I am also a member of My Space, to promote my book. I have been a member there for over four years. I blog, post bulletins, etc. I was so pleasantly surprised to see how much more interaction I received here on eons and attributed it to the wisdom of people over fifty. On My Space I get these bulletins that ask twenty questions, like Who do you have a crush on? How many body piercings do you have? Sometimes they ask questions that I have no clue as to what they are even talking about, and at times they are cryptic. Since joining eons I have spent much more time here than on My Space. What a mistake to allow others under fifty in as members.
What could possibly be wrong with the folks at Eons? I, too, joined because it was a site for people over 50. What is the point of having this site if all these little twerps can join in.
Opening up EONS to teeny boppers may look like a good idea to some of the people who hold high profile positions on EONS now. But what goes around comes around. Just wait until the day the powers that be automatically remove these people from their high profile positions citing "you aren't responsive to the needs of our younger members." I hope they don't come running to Seniorocity to cry on my shoulder. Peace.
I thought eons was for seniors. Teens have their groups on the internet, can"t we have ours. This is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. Maybe we should ask all our grandchildren to join. Maybe we then can be called BABY EONS. Also, once word gets out there are teens at Eons, what about sexual preditors joining. Did the higher ups think of that. I too am MAD AS HELL. What are they thinking?????
I, too, am unhappy with EONS' decision to admit folks 13 yrs. and up. They have MySpace, they have FaceBook. EONS was started for us folks over 50 and we all felt safe and congenial here. Please, Mr. Taylor, don't let this happen.
Here we go again with the age people..over 50 groups are going to be intermingled by kids..we have to have somewhere to call our own without being put down, preyed upon or hasseled in our group till most of us just go to get away from that..to get away from that is why we joined eons..I cherish the friends here even when I don't agree with them. They are special and I will miss the bonds, support and humor.
We are turning into the diaper brigade, thanks sooooooooo much eons, if you will excuse me, I have to go watch out for the kiddies, so I as a moderator don't get sued by a pissed off parent.
I have an account on MySpace, and I thought this would be a great place for folks our age... I deal with one teen all the time... my daughter is 16. I hate the fact that EONS has chosen to expand its service to younger folks. How many remember the launch of Sputnik? Many of the kids on other services don't even know what it is!!!
Not only that! Us boomers learned HOW to use a computer, Teens learned HOW to manipulate one. I'm not happy they will have access to the privy stuff I've posted on EONS for the last year or so!
Yes, thank you very much, EONS moneygrubbers. The answer to my complaint - in writing - was that many 50 year olds have 40 year old friends. DUH!? That's an excuse for opening membership (and access to my profile and group commentaries) to THIRTEEN YEAR OLDS? Not to mention sexual predators, whom I have seen clearly on various sites catering to teens and younger kids, pretending to be avuncular and just loving to help young people out. Yeah, right, and I'm the queen of the May. I hope EONS is prepared to 1) lose MANY of its adult members immediately; 2) defend against the law suits when the predators start raping and killing people's kids that they meet on here. For heavens' sake, what are you thinking? We have groups like Old Tokers, Sexy After Fifty, Lust and so forth, Kinky after who knows what. Do you really want kids in there?
I agree. This is like AARP allowing people under 55 to join. What are they thinking? Why not reach out to more Seniors? Maybe offer something special to members who bring new members. I'll tell you what the problem is. Lack of immagination!!!
