For the past 7 years, I've had my vehicles insured with GEICO. It was easy, the premiums were competitive and things had run very smoothly, until now. I tried to remove my husband and his vehicle from my policy, which I had paid in full until the end of April. Should be easy, pro-rate my vehicle from the old policy, apply the funds from the old policy to the new policy, all is good.
No, not so with GEICO, their way of doing it was to remove my vehicle, give me a new policy, have me pay a new downpayment and refund to my husband, who I just had removed from the house by way of a restraining order, the insurance premium I paid to them!
I told them forget it, leave the damn policy the way it was. When it comes up for renewal, I'll take my business elsewhere and in the meantime, I'm going to BLOG my heart out and let the rest of the world know they don't know how to pro-rate the removal of a vehicle from a policy!
So, folks, if you have insurance with GEICO, or know someone who does, do me a favor, tell them my story, please. Get the word out.
Thanks!

They gotcha either way u go..since mandatory auto ins was passed nationally..I drove here in Tn for 12 yrs w/o ins..I was taking a chance I know but I drive pretty safely..anyway they passed it here and I went to get my two pickups insured..a main policy for the truck I drive daily..and my other which I drive a few times a yr..they wont add the second one to the first ones policy..so I have to pay 2 policies..and I told my ins agent who has my house ins too..that I pay more for ins on my second truck than I spend on gas for it..he found that quite humorous..if I could find a better deal I would move all my insurances to someone else..but after checking locally..they r pretty much the same

Don't even get me started on Geico. My son was a passenger in a rollover in 2006, and severed all the tendons in his right hand. They had to be surgically reconnected, and even so, he'll never have full function. Geico was the insurer of the owner of the vehicle. Their adjusters were vicious, soulless golems, and traumatized Alex every bit as badly as the accident did. The kid gave in. His dominant hand is below par, he's only nineteen, and the bastards got to him. He settled. By the time the lawyers get their cut, he'll walk away with maybe 15K. Yeah, that'll compensate for the loss in function over the course of a lifetime. You know what I wish? I wish it on their children.
It would be lovely if the golems at Geico were sent a link to this. Truly lovely.

No, they don't need a link to this, I copied the blog and sent it to them. Then I wrote another one at Blogger.com and sent them that one, too. Here's a copy of that email.
Here\'s another one at BLOGGER.COM

I\'ve been a GEICO customer for the past 7 years. In November, he purchased a truck, and we added it on to my policy which renewed on October 25, 2007. In December, even though my husband wasn\'t working, I took and advance on my disability check and paid the auto premium up in full until the end of the policy period of April 25, 2008.

I\'ve spent the past 2 days attempting to put things in the proper order, in spite of the mess he left.

My, my, my, the power of the BLOG. After the first email, to which I replied, asking what she would do if her premium were being refunded to go buy drugs and she were being asked to repay it, I received a second one telling from a different individual saying that she understood my frustration, and perhaps I could just have my husband call and have me taken off the policy. I replied to that one telling her that if she could enlighten me as to how one gets a bi polar in the midst of a cocaine influenced manic episode I would contact my friend who is a Special Envoy to the Vatican and ask him to recommend her for sainthood. I also explained that I was not frustrated, I was outraged and currently on hold with a customer service representative who was working with underwriting and accounting and my blogging was suspended until she called me back. Whether or not it remained suspended depended on the outcome of her return call.
Needless to say, I now believe that there is a great deal of power in the BLOG. What was impossible to do a few short hours ago has been accomplished. As of midnight tonight I will have my own policy with all of the funds I had paid into my previous policy applied to it. I will owe only the balance of the six month term. That's fine, I had roughly 3 1/3 months remaining on my current policy. No downpayment, no refund to my husband. Now, I simply bring the new bill to court and have the Judge make him pay it, seeing as I paid his.
My words of advice, the next time a major company pisses you off, BLOG, and send them a copy, BLOG again, and send them a copy. Repeat as necessary!

They're still soulless golems, nonetheless.

Absolutely no doubt, and I will undoubtedly change providers before I have to pay them another bloody cent, however, I did accomplish what I needed to accomplish!

Well, there supposed doing it the way it should be done was a crock and a half, as was proved when I received a bill on Thursday. Needless to say they received a phone call not fit for reproduction. I will be removing all of the insurance from their underwriting next week, filing a complaint with the Insurance Commissioner and raising one hell of a stink!

I have had ALL my insurance with State Farm car, house, business ins. with husband's business, etc . The personal ins I have had with them for 60+years. No claims until 2004 hurricane when a limb poked a hole in my roof and they treated me quickly and very satisfactory. NOW because I or anyone that lives within 1 mile of the water they will not renew the homeowners. What loyalty// That was the only claim I had on anything.Scarlet 123
