Even if you never really understood what Arbor Day was all about, you can see what a great idea it is to plant a tree. First, there’s the practical value trees offer. One shade tree can significantly reduce your summertime need for air conditioning. That saves you money. Then there’s the impact that tree could have on CO2 in the atmosphere, storing as much as 13 pounds of carbon each year.

Trees look nice. They smell nice. And, when the wind blows through their leaves, they even sound nice.

But, beyond the here-and-now, can you think of a nicer legacy to leave behind? Trees are pretty long-lived and it’s nice to think of something so beautiful and positive living well beyond your own years: your little piece of immortality.
